I currently have an old HTIB system that I want to upgrade. I don't want to upgrade everything at once. I'll buy the AVR first and connect it to the old HTIB speakers and then buy the speakers later. The speakers have 4 ohm impedance and the subwoofer is 3 ohm. Is that OK?

What I'm thinking of buying is Denon AVR-S760H and Polk XT Speakers, but haven't decided yet.

Hey everyone I just ordered off Amazon, SAMSUNG 75-Inch Class Crystal UHD CU7000 Series PurColor, Object Tracking Sound Lite, Q-Symphony, 4K Upscaling, HDR, Gaming Hub, Smart TV with Alexa Built-in (UN75CU7000, 2023 Model).

We’ll now that I’ve ordered it I’ve gone into a rabbit hole thinking I might not have bought the best tv for the price I’m paying, some things stick out such as not having oled technology and being 60hz refresh rate.

I’m mainly just watching movies on it or sports games, but occasionally hook up my steam link and run some games like baldurs gate split screen and monster hunter. Should I cancel this order and get something that’s better for the price? I’m not very sure about tv technologies I’ve only ever bought shitty TVs at like Walmart. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you! Also preferably stay a 75inch tv as the couches are decently far from the screen.

Just curious if anyone's heard any info on the subject. 40gbps is not enough for 4k144hz 10bit.

Hey all, I have an older Pioneer receiver that has started sending a very distinct 120Hz AC Hum through the speakers. It's gone when the system is completely off, comes on slightly when the unit powers on, then increases when the speaker channels activate. It can range from barely noticeable to extremely distracting and can seemingly increase on its own. It seems to be alleviated by sliding the receiver off of the shelf, but sometimes comes back louder when I put it back or doesn't improve at all.

I have a lot of hands on experience with electronics, so I'm happy to disassemble the unit to troubleshoot or replace a component(s) if need be. I want a new unit but need this one to last a bit longer if at all possible. Lmk if I can answer any other questions, and TIA!

Hey team.

I've found a Denon x4100w with a full 5.1 set of Jamo S628, S622, S62 and J12 sub for $600 Aussie. I'm not so interested in the speakers but the amp specs seem pretty good. But with all this new 4k copy protection stuff, is it worth buying this older amp? To be fair I don't have any blueray discs and never will but will it effect streaming services in 4k? That's really my only concern.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Moved into a new house that has built in speakers already installed. Fronts are Klipsch R-5800-W(S1) and rears are ceiling mounted Klipsch CS-650-R. What would be a good center Channel Speaker to pair with these?

I'm in Ireland and have a Kef subwoofer that works perfectly but seen better days. Its about 15 years old and is oval shaped in a silver colour.

I was considering sanding it down and painting it to bring some new life to it?

What would be the best way to do this? Could I use any standard multi surface paint or does it have to be "speaker paint"?

Has anyone heard of a sub a big sub called a vega? My brother in law has one when he acquired yeeears ago and it’s amazing. But we can’t find anything about it on the internet. Nor seen anyone who has one. Is savage the bass from it is mind blowing. I just wondered if any one had come across one, had one themselves or had any info about it?

Edit: This is a pic I have of the Vega on its side!

Hello everybody, happy new year.

I have some older but does the job equipment:

Harman Kardon AVR 247 JBL L890 Studio Towers Velodyne DPS-12 Sub

Talking crossover for the sub, I set my towers to small in the avr and I don't believe I have a sub cross-over setting within the Harman Kardon.

The jbl towers freq response and is 28hz-40khz.

Knowing that what would YOU set the cross over setting on the velodyne sub at? I currently have it at 80hz but is that too high for towers to perform?

Cheers!

Ive got the XTZ Cinema Series (M6 LCR, S5 Rears) and toying with upgrading - just wondered if anyone had experience with the above Arendal range and whether they are actually an upgrade or just a sideways swop?

With thanks

Anyone with experience vinyl wrapping an AVR? Can’t stand the piano black look of most budget AVRs and don’t have $2,500 to buy a silver Marantz unit.

Is it doable? Anyone done it before?

I‘m currently looking for a home theater setup. Right now it looks like i‘m going to buy the q acoustic 5000 series speakers in a 5.1 setup. But i also want to extend the setup with two atmos speakers. Unfortunately i have slanted ceilings so I can’t use reflective speaker on top of the front speakers. But i have very good mounting options for overhead speakers. What would you guys recommend as atmos speakers? Should i just use the q acoustics 5010 to go with the rest of the set or do you have better (and maybe cheaper) recommendations ?

Really weird issue going on with my blu ray player and AV receiver. Current setup is as follows:

DVD Player: Sony UBP-X700 AV Receiver: Denon AVR-2808CI TV: LG CX OLED.

The blu ray player shows up as no signal when on the home screen but will successfully start playing 4K discs whenever they start running. Blu ray discs however have the same issue as the home screen, they show up as no signal on the tv. I’ve tried many different HDMI cables, and have successfully gotten blu rays to play and the home screen to display when plugging directly into the tv. It appears it’s some communication error between the Sony and the Denon when lower resolution sources are trying to display. Not sure how to fix this issue, any ideas?

I’ve recently picked up a Yamaha RX-V6A and was looking for some subwoofer / speaker advice.

I have two Monitor Audio Radius 90 speakers that I was using with a stereo amp, and was able to pick up 5 Monitor Audio MASS speakers very cheaply which I plan to use for the surround speakers

For a centre speaker and subwoofer, am I best sticking with the Radius range or should I look elsewhere? Are my current speakers and amp an ok starting point?

A preface this by apologizing if this is not the best place for this question. I have an old Heathkit that I would like to add the ability to power on with a universal remote control. Is there some sort of power switch I could buy that simply turns on and off by receiving an infrared signal? I’m imagining something where I can plug the Heathkit into this switch, and then plug the switch into the wall, with a cable extending out of the switch that has an IR receiver on the end of that cable. I know I can already do something like this with a smart home Wi-Fi switch, but for my particular set up I need it to be able to receive infrared signals instead. I feel like I’ve search the internet high and low for this kind of thing, but I’ve come up empty-handed. Any help/ideas are appreciated.

Looking to switch up my setup from 7.1 to 5.1.2. I have a vinyl tile drop down ceiling. Plenty of room to install a can of some sort of needed. Or wasn't sure if there was some type of mounting bracket for the frame of ceiling.

I have no idea if this whole lossless thing is worth it (and probably improved DAC). Should I do this upgrade now that I have the money for it? If there's little to no difference, I don't really want to, but if it's night and day, I want to. Mostly playing regular blurays from PS3 superslim via hdmi. Thanks.

PS: Klipsch RP250c center and generic Sound Acoustic surrounds, and an HSU VTF-2 MK3 sub. So I am running surround.
