HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! A few weeks back I asked for help and this great community helped me and here is the result. So a big thanks to those who helped out !!!
I then went about working out how to best assemble it and make it all weatherproof as it never stops raining at Xmas lol The end result was a big success but only suitable for cold evenings and light rain showers and not to be left outside. BUT I did 100% succeed in making an occasional waterproof gaming projector for Nintendo Switch with 3.1 ish surround wireless sound. And of course it rained lol, but we still played on and not a single leak after 3 hrs :-D
In the hope of helping others, this is what I did and how much it cost...

Assembly:
- I took the extra large wet box and put it on its side and I cut a hole in the lid for the projector lens.
- I then put a plastic tube in the hole with a silicon seal. The light could escape but it stopped most rain (all rain in my case).
- I set the projector as deep as I could in the box away from the hole.
- The latter is the only weakness in the design but even in blowing rain no water came into the box. So ideal for light showers but not suitable to be left outside In all weather due to damp.
- I added the switch to the wet box with a game. Install digital games for more games.
- I ran the projectors and switches power cables to a power surge multi socket in the box.
- I made sure the projector had switch ventilation for the projector heat on the underside of the wet box using the boxes existing weather proof vents.
- I ran the multi socket plug to the waterproof socket in the box.
- I ran the 10m waterproof cable from the wet box via the wet proof hole to an outside waterproof wall socket.
- I ran the switch hdmi cable to the audio extractor. I set it up for 1080p.
- I ran another 1 m hdmi cable to the projector.
- I plugged a 3.5mm bluetooth dongle into the headphone jack.
- I paired the speakers and then paired to the dongle. I turned the projector speakers up to 25. You can add an optional mini sub woofer for base via optical out if you have room.
- I placed the speakers on either side of the white outside wall.
- Projected onto a white garage wall.
Time to Setup:
This all took about 10 mins to set up and once set up didn't need setting up again. The keystone as very useful to save time moving it all about. Though I did put it all on a portable trolly which I could unpack and wheel about to speed up alignment.
Portable:
Tech this isnt portable though for a projector it is as it can be moved around and taken anywhere but for true portabilty just add a Portable Outlet to the wet box. For £50 -100 you can pick one up which will give you 3hrs plus play (thought ive yet to test this).
Sound:
I chose the Sony speakers as they're the cheapest true stereo speakers you can buy which daisy link and are waterproof / dustproof. So ideal for outside. And they do give an amazing stereo effect.
They're not that loud but fine for a 100 inch / 8 - 10 ft set up. The speakers were placed 10ft apart without issue and lasted over 3hrs. The bluetooth was about 15ft-20ft away and had no issues.
With the added projector speakers behind you and a possible sub woofer the overall effect for outside was very similar to surround sound to the point I could not hear the difference.
Light Wind and rain didn't effect play.
Switch joy cons:
The switch is junk ancient tech and it's own Bluetooth limitations means joy cons need to be fairly near especially on mp. It can't do a Bluetooth speaker and 2 player joy cons. And even struggled with 3 player joy cons at more than 5m.
Light Wind and rain did effect distance and lag.
The projector:
The Epson EH-TW60001080p ws ideal for crappy old non 4k switch. And suitable for a large white 100 inch wide wall outside. Its 2200 lumens was very bright and vibrant in the dark with no noticeable lag. Max projection of 60inch at 7ft but we had it at about 80-100 inch filling an entire outside wall at a distance of about 20ft 'ish.It looked awesome!
Light Wind and rain had no visible effect.
Notes:
Wind and rain aren't ideal lol. You don't need a wet box or waterproof anything if damp isn't a concern. But the above worked fine in cold slightly wet condition over hours. But the heat of the projector was offset by the temp outside. In warmer conditions I'd recommend a fan in the wet box.
This set up worked perfectly for outside gaming on switch in cold and slightly wet weather and light wind with no negatives. For a budget under 500£€$ it was well worth it and will be used in winter and summer for gaming and movies. You could save more money using a bluetooth projector and if damp isnt an issue.
