Our first choice was to see if we can remove the paint off the grille. As a test, we removed the entire speaker on the right side. This is a pic that shows the right side cutout and the left speaker intact.

This is a front and back pic of the speaker we removed. The speaker is a Proficient W800 that was installed back in 2006.

We were not able to remove the paint off the grille, so I'm wondering if we can replace just the grille or if the entire speaker needs to be replaced. For some reason, it seems to be hard to find a rectangular replacement grille.

Thanks all. Happy New Year.

I successfully connected 4 Aura bass shakers via a Dayon BSA Amp and my Denon x8500HA AVR. Watching a movie with Amazon video or Disney+ sounds amazing. However something like YouTube or my regular Comcast/Xfinity channels offers very little tactile response. Any chance there's a setting I'm missing?

I have an old home theater (brand: Sharp model: CP-CH690R) that comes with 5 speakers and one subwoofer that all come in one package. The home theater already has a receiver for audio but it only plays dvd which is something I don’t use often. So I am looking for a receiver I can replace it with that can connect hdmi 4K to all of the speakers and subwoofer. The speakers written on the back 60 watts maximum power and the subwoofer written on the back 120 watts. I don’t know if it’s gonna help but every speaker uses a wire including one colored and one black and the end has copper sticking out. I don’t know much about home theaters so I don’t know half of the stuff I said. I might reply late due to me writing this in midnight.

Hello all, I have been recommended to come here for my audio needs so here I am, I recently bought a TV for my living room and was quite disappointed by the insystem speakers. Am looking for a good set of surround sound speakers but am the opposite of an audiophile. Just looking for some guidance, opinions, or advice as to what I should get, looked into Klipsch’s website and was more confused than when I started. Looking to spend about 2k-3k for speakers and receiver, any help is appreciated.

I have got behringer b3020a speakers and I want to know what amp and subwoofer to get. Preferably if I adjust the volume for the main speakers the subwoofer volume changes. Thanks

Hi,

Those of you who have used both Samsung and LG LED TVs which one will you recommend to your friends and family?

I am not taking about Qled or OLED. I am taking about traditional LED backlight TVs that too starting from 720p to all the way 4K.

What's the pros and cons of each brand?

Please keep the discussion strictly within these two brands. I am using a Samsung TV at the moment. Your replies will help me in choosing my next TV.

So I’ve got an Epson EH-TW7100 ceiling mounted and run through a 10m fibre optic cable to a PS5 and Apple TV. Every time I’ve had the PS on, the cable gets hot. And now, the main issue is that I cannot get any video output on any device. I tried to watch a movie on Disney Plus and received an error saying Disney+ has detected an HDCP issue. I tried to run Netflix, and there was audio but no video. Any idea what’s happening?

So long story short, I couldn't get 4K Netflix or Amazon Prime Videos working on my PC, so I gave up and decided to use the built in apps on my LG C2.

I use an Onkyo tx-sr578 receiver where I have my PC connected to the HDMI In connection, which works fine.

However, when I connect the LG C2 HDMI ARC to the receiver's TV Out, it works, but when I switch the receiver's listening mode back to the PC channel, it won't play any sound from the PC, and on the receiver's screen, an HDMI sign continues blinking.

However, once I disconnect the HDMI Out cable, the HDMI sign stops blinking and it starts picking up sound from the PC again.

Though, I really don't want to disconnect the cable every single time, so I got a spare optical cable and plugged that to the TV > Receiver, and that works flawlessly. I can simply switch modes, and sound will switch from TV to PC.

But using optical also means losing out on higher audio quality, so I would like to use HDMI ARC if possible.

So, does anyone know what I can possibly do?

Original Title: With dolby surround (upmixing), music vocals never sound like they're coming through the center speaker. Even with fronts all the way down and center at max. Is this normal for upmixed content? My center is just below tv height, I don't have other options. Mains are a meter either side of ctr.

Hi so I recently setup my first HT system, I'm just beginning so all I have is a 2.0 setup, I have 2 airmotiv b1+ speakers with a denon x1700h denon AVR. So they sound amazing to me but every so often when I'm watching a movie during a loud sound effect or explosion etc the speakers pop/crackle during it. I tested specific scenes when it happens and it only happens when I go above -14dp volume, anything lower volume than that and its fine. Is that just too high volume for my speakers/AVR? or is it a different issue?

One other thing to note, I didn't realize that the speaker wires I used for the speakers, 1 is a 16awg and one is 14awg. I know they should be the same could that be the issue? or it something else.

thanks in advance for any help

Currently I am using a ps5 for most of my streaming and playing blueray movies. It goes into a C2 with a pretty basic yamaha soundbar over earc.

I don't have any specific complaints about the current setup. However I also have a pc that is plugged into the tv via hdmi, and it can do full 4k hdr 120 as well.

I am wondering, given that ps5 has limitations around dolby vision and probably other things, would it make more sense to use the pc for this instead?

Do I need something else than, say, a vlc and a bd drive for disk playback?

Any benefit for streaming? Compared to native ps5 streaming apps, like youtube, netflix etc?

I'm building out a theater in my basement, and wanted some feedback on the plan that I have so far and the quote I've received. The space is about 17.1 feet long and 13.3 feet wide with 8.5 foot ceilings, but with a 1 foot soffit on the righthand side of the room. I'm planning on walling in the space entirely, insulating the walls, and painting the ceiling and walls matte black. So it will be a completely light controlled room. The image below shows the dimensions of the space with a ~130" image projected on the wall from a UST that I've since returned after deciding to construct a dedicated theater room.

My goal is to have a great movie watching experience. I'm not going to listen to music in the room, and I'm not a crazy audiophile but want clear dialog and a reasonably immersive surround system.

I'm debating between a few quotes that I've received, my budget is around $9-$10k for A/V equipment and installation. This budget does not include the cost of my contractor walling in the space, painting it, etc.

I'm thinking that with the space constraints I have, in-wall speakers make sense since the door on the righthand side of the room (see below picture) leads to a storage area that I'd like not to block off with towers, or even a media console. I doubt that I have the space for bookshelf speakers too.

The top quote that I'm considering includes the below. I'd particularly appreciate advise on the audio setup. I'm questioning whether the system that they've suggested is the best use of my budget.

I appreciate the help/opinions!

Video

Projector - Epson LS11000 - $3,499

Projector Ceiling Mount - $199

Screen - Severtson 135” Legacy Screen, Cinema White - $1,199

Wire and Materials - $250

Audio (5.1 system)

LCR - 3x Revel W263 In Wall Speaker - $447

Rear Surrounds - 2x Revel C263 In Ceiling Speaker - $298

Sub - Klipsch R121SW - $549

AVR - Yamaha Aventage 100w/ch 7.2 AV Receiver - $699.00 (I may add another row of seats in the future, so the AV vendor recommended I go with a 7.2 receiver up front in case I add additional surrounds at that time)

Wire and Materials - $150

Misc

Surge protection - $99

Equipment total - $7,389.00

Installation Labor (1 tech, 1.5 days) - $1620

Sales tax - $650.97

Total - $9,659.97

Room with dimensions and 130" image (not keeping this projector in final install)

Room with bottom plate of framing in place to give a sense of the space

I renovated a room in my house and made it into a new home theater. Installed speaker wires and this HDMI cable in the walls and ceiling () along with building shelves to hold all my consoles and games and a screen for the projector. Lots of work and I'm almost done. The HDMI goes from my receiver to my projector. The issue is that it only works one way and isn't reversible like every other HDMI cable I've ever used. Missed that in the description, and, of course, I ended up running it through the walls and ceiling the wrong way. I already patched up all the holes and painted everything. Am I fucked, or is there anything I can do or adapter I can get to be able to use it without having to tear everything apart again?

I apologise if this a simple question to answer, but I cannot seem to find to answer online and don't k ow much about how these things work. All I want to k ow is if I connect a 4k blurau player to 1 of 2 types of monitors, either my current 1440p oled hdr monitor, or in the future to a 4k oled hdr monitor, and play a UHD HDR bluray disc via the 4k player, if it will display the video in 4k and in hdr? I don't k ow if there should he a difference between my current lg oled cx and an oled monitor. Please let me know if I've asked in the wrong place or if you need to information/ clarification. Thank you all!

Which receiver?

Hey all, I'm stunningly new here, have a HT-in-a-box that I bought over 10 years ago and want to upgrade into a budget 5.1 setup, starting slowly and acquiring pieces over time.

I have a large living room that's going to be the main listening/watching room. I want to start with some budget Klipsch deals I found on FB marketplace (pair R41Ms, center R52C) and need to decide on a receiver ASAP.

I'm looking at the Sony AN1000 ($400) and Onkyo NR7100 ($500), also FB deals. Speakers and receivers will be new in sealed box.

Suggestions? Preferences? Which do you guys think would be better, or should I be considering something else?

Thank you so much I'm advance.

Keen to upgrade my somewhat beginner setup. 90% TV/Movies and 10% Music.

Currently have a 3.1 System setup (happy to keep it 3.1, or consider 5.1 if much more immersive)

65" Samsung Frame 2022 version

Denon AVR-S540BT 5.2 Receiver

Klipsch R-10SW 10" 300W Sub

Center - Polk T30

Right and Left - Polk Rti A3

Will be getting a couple of grand as my EOY bonus. Fairly happy with the TV itself and sub, but curious on the Receiver / Speaker upgrades. Any suggestions? Perhaps go from the Bookshelves to something Floorstanding with more grunt?

The room is fairly large, but I sit about 10FT back. It has 20FT ceilings.

I'm thinking about how to optimize my upcoming 3.1 system. Audio tracks go from 2.0 to 5.1. There is no such thing as a 3.1 track. Therefore, if my setup is 3.1, do I set my receiver as 5.1 so that it processes separate audio for all 3.1 channels? It wouldn't make sense to set it as stereo right? The center channel won't get anything. But if I set up 5.1, I'd also be losing any dedicated surround audio too right? So it's a sacrifice I would essentially make for a 3.1 set-up?

Hi, my current setup consists of the monitor connected to a PS5 and my laptop (very old acer nitro 5) via its 2 HDMI slots. My audio out is a jbl BT speaker connected to the monitor via aux.

Wanting to upgrade my sound, I was looking at Sony's 5.1 soundbar system - hts40r as it would be perfect for my small room but I now I came to know that aux only supports stereo. So how can I make this work? Is it possible? Or should I just look for a good stereo system instead? Cheers.

PS: I will be using it for gaming, movies, and music.
