Purchasing through Costco. What do you think of these three:

Sony 85” X80ck series 4k UHD

Samsung 85” class CU7000D series 4k UHD

LG 86” class UR8000 series 4k UHD

Thank you in advance!!

Getting everything finally hooked up for my 7.2.4 mancave (I mean, cave to share with the wife!), and I wondered what's the easiest path to format harmony? I have a good bit of content in each of the following:

  • UHD Blu-ray
  • Blu-ray audio (including Atmos and Auro3D)
  • DVD-A
  • SACD

I have ways of ripping most of these to files, but nothing I have fits the bill of handling them all easily. Would be happy to have a single device that handles all of these (either as their physical media or as rips); does such a thing exist? Was a bit bummed my LX805 doesn't seem to handle any video content via USB.

I think there was an episode of cribs or something where someone made their own AMC. Has anyone here done that ? Complete with signs and red carpet etc. If so I would LOVE to see pics.

2017 TV vs 2023 TV. Is the TLC better in almost every way? I know people here say it’s a dog shit tv but the two top reviews on YouTube say it’s a great budget TV for the average consumer. Most of the YT comments say they love it.

I get there’s better for just a little more $ but everything is sold out by me in my nearest Best Buy, Walmart, and Target. And right now I can get the 55 inch for only $200 total.

At that price if it’s an upgrade to my 2017 55 I’ll be more than happy.

It’s only $200 worst case scenario it’ll be my garage TV. Not looking at other models just would like to know if it’s an upgrade or not.

I have an Epson 3800 projector that I currently use mostly for watching movies and a little gaming. I am struggling to find quality references/resources to identify the right surround sound system. My projector is about 22 ft from the screen/wall. I also typically watch tv/movies off a roku.

What I am looking for in a sound system is:

  • As few wires/cords as possible

  • Ideally soundbar + Sub + 2 additional but open to suggestions

-Good to great sound

The room was previously wired for audio, but wires appeared to be cut and I am unsure about pursing a receiver and additional work needed to install. I have looked at Sonos, Samsung, and LG. I know that I would need ARC adaptors, but I don't know what would be the best fit for the projector/space that I have. Thoughts on which system to pursue?

I moved into a house with wiring for surround sound previously in place, but many of th

Hi all, I've over analyzed this situation and just need some other opinions as I've talked myself into inaction.

I recently purchased a house with a space I can dedicate to a home theater. It has no pre-run wires and I'm nervous about getting it to look clean enough for my wife. I'm going with a projector but am undecided on UST (NexiGo Aurora Pro) vs long throw (Epson 5050UB) due to the difficulty of running the wires through the ceiling/walls for 5.1.

The space allotted is 11' 3" wide and 14' 6" long (room is about 6 feet longer with an office area and a window that does not reach the projector area with direct light. It has blackout curtains that can be closed). There is also a glass door next to the projector wall that has blackout curtains and is not really used. There are no overhead lights. I tried an Epson 3800 and Dangbei Mars Pro and they looked fine even during the day.

I was gifted a set of Polk Audio speakers:

2x Polk RTi A5s

2x Polk Tsi200s rears

Polk CSi A4 center

Polk PSW108 sub

Karmon Kardon AVR354.

I already know the center and sub aren't ideal but they are already sitting in my house. I can spend some money on better speakers but not sure if I need to. I assume the AVR will have to be updated. I'm def not an audiophile and just want something fun.

Using a UST projector would simplify the cabling (could use wireless rears or maybe ghost wire) but since I'll be living here a long time the work for running wires for the projector/speakers might be worth it. I've never done it before and am just nervous about doing it right/it looking good.

I'd appreciate some thoughts as I've been talking myself in circles. Projector screen would go on back wall where previous owner had a huge TV.

Straight view, outside door with blackout curtains on right

So my wife just completely bombed my lounge idea which was to go full tower or bookshelf on stands left and right channels. She doesnt want big towers or speakers on stands to either side. I have shown her that towers can be stylish but she just doesnt like the look.

She would be happy using tv audio and she raised the fact ive just spent 12 months of time and money building myself an office in our garage and putting a £3k sim rig within it - so im not going to win the battle.

Its either a soundbar (she will tolerate left and right rear surrounds!) Or i find another solution.

My tv unit is five feet across and i plan to put a 65inch tv above it. Will there be sufficient seperation of left and right channels if i place left and right bookshelf speakers at either end of the unit with a centre in the middle? Thats basicallly the width of a sound bar and isnt that one of the main criticisms? Left and right not enough seperation

I sit 50 inches from the tv

The unit is a Denon S760h. Even before the factory reset every button on the remote only muted and unmuted the receiver. The receiver also muted and unmuted itself. I have a S750h in the other room which responds to the remote with no issues. Now I've factory reset I cannot seem to go through the setup process again since the remote doesn't work. I'm worried this might be a warranty issue. Please help if you can, thanks.

Hi guys, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but hoping someone can help.

Recently got a deal off Kijiji for the Yamaha RX-V640, with 2 Polk Audio RT400 speakers, 4 small Yamaha speakers, a Yamaha YST-SW215, and two other no-name speakers, and a Sony Blu Ray player for $50.

I already have a Yamaha HTR-8063, which has never been out of the box (bought years ago, then life happened), so I really just bought it all for the speakers, as I'm not ready to set things up.

I was going to sell the Yamaha RX-V640 on Kijiji, but wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be missing anything by staying with my HTR-8063. It seems the 8063 is a little more modern, with HDMI input and outputs, etc. I just don't want to find out I made a mistake in letting the RX-V640 go.

It's in beautiful shape.

Your help is really appreciated, and apologies, I'm pretty new to the reciever world, so thanks for your patience if I have dumb questions!

Looking to grab a Denon X2700H on A4L. Feeling a little iffy about their extended warranty. Anyone had a good experience with CPS? I get that 5 years at $40 is kind of inconsequential, but I'd rather not send my AVR off for service if they're going to do a bad job. Especially when I have to pay shipping.

I just upgraded from 5.1 to 5.1.2. It’s alright, but its super overrated. I have my speakers at a 55 degree angle and spread 30 degrees wide. It’s doing it’s thing, it’s just not the game changer that the marketing would have you believe. It definitely fills the room with sound and makes it feel more like a real movie theater, but I think a good subwoofer, bass shaker or acoustic treatment is a better upgrade. Atmos is a subtle effect that you don’t really notice until you take it away. It’s not a show stopper.

What do you guys think about Atmos?

Hello,

just joined and 1st post here. This post might belong to budget audiophile too but I try my luck with you guys.

Trying to make long story short, I bought my 1st AV Receiver when I arrived in Japan 17yrs ago.

A Yamaha V2700 which was coupled with JBL 880 towers

The combo served me well while single in a relatively small apartment livingroom, usage for basic hometheater and PS3 gaming but fell short of impressing me with musicality.

Years have passed, got married and moved to a much larger apartment with larger and tricky shape living room with plenty of windows(but nice view on the bay!!!

Now I was always looking at replacing this combo, started 2yrs ago by selling the JBLs and replacing them with a gorgeous Italian furniture (wife friendly move!!!) , a pair of bookshelf JAMO S803 in white and the addition of an Onkyo SL307 subwoofer.

Looks nice and the Music listening sounds better, with movies watching not having lost much in the move.

Last night, I decided to attack the AV receiver part and bought a Store certified 1Yr warranty DENON X2700H for equivalent of $350 over here.

was looking at the class above $3800H or S6015t they were too expensive, even on 2nd hand market.

I will possibly add an Amp in the future but for now, I would like to replace the JAMO with something with a wider stage

I have shortened my list to 8 models (I know it sounds like a lot right now) that are pretty much in the same price range of $500 to $550 over here in Japan, except the DALI that are $150 more expensive

  1. JBL studio 630
  2. Whaferdale diamond 12.1
  3. MA BRONZE 100
  4. ELEAC DBR62
  5. KEF Q350
  6. POLK R200
  7. Tannoy B6
  8. DALI Menuet

what you guys would recommend to pair well with DENON?

thanks in advance

Quick question. I'm looking for a used 1080 projector. I've got a dlp projector at the moment. The colour wheel really gets on my nerves. So should I be looking at Sony, jvc and epsom 3 lcd projectors?

Thanks.

I have been planning my theater for some time now. I was planning on having all the speakers behind the projector screen. But I plan to move my seating back a little ways (14ish feet), so I am worried that I will need to put the L/R speakers near the corner of the room to have a wider sound stage. With this I am thinking I need to be able to toe in the speakers toward the main listening position. So I am thinking about going away from complete in wall set up and move to tower speakers with a center still behind the screen. The problem is I am trying to keep the L/R/C speakers around $1200 total. There are several tower speakers that I think will be good, but I can't find any with a good center in wall speaker that I can pair it with. Any recommendations on this? Any speakers I should be looking at? Can I get tower speakers from one company and an in wall center from a different company?
