Hello, I'm looking for a TV and I could use some help. I don't know anything about TV's but I've thought about purchasing one for my room. My room is small so a 43 inch is the only thing I would be able to buy. I like to play games on my parents TV in the living room, the colors and picture quality on it are really good and I love the big screen on it. I plan on hooking the TV up to my PC, I usually have games on max graphics so 60fps is what I hover at, I know some TV's have a higher refresh rate but I'm more of a casual gamer now so I don't think I would benefit from a higher refresh rate. I'd much rather prefer a TV with good colors and image quality.

So far, I've had my eye on the LG 43-Inch Class UR9000, SAMSUNG CU 7000 series and the Amazon Fire TV 43" 4-Series 4K UHD smart TV.

I'm not sure if either of the TV's I listed are good choices so if there are betters ones please let me know! I only have a budget of $330

After years of using old/free projectors I sucked it up and bought a new Epson LS12000. I've had it 11 months, and love the picture. I'm guessing I have 50 hours of run time, and would be surprised if I have more than 100.

Today mid movie it went from silent and working to the fans being loud and no image. The blue and orange Status and Laser lights were also blinking in unison (see pictures). It did not respond to remote input, so I unplugged it after a few minutes.

It is 65 to 70 *F in that room and it is mounted several inches away from the ceiling. I checked teh filter for the first time and it looks fine, better in person than the attached picture.

The manual says to call Epson, who is closed today.

After a few minutes I tried turning it back on and it is working as if nothing ever happened.

Do I write this off as a fluke, wait for it to get worse, or contact Epson and try to warranty this thing? I'm a little distrusting of refurbished electronics due to past (different brand) issues, so if it's a fluke I don't want to risk swapping it out. Advice?

Hi,

I’m looking for shoppings advices for a particular setup.

Use case: I’d like to gather all my HDMI devices into 1 output because I have too many devices to plug into TV.

Constraints:

  • I have 6+ devices
  • They work with different HDMI standards up to 4K/144Hz (for gaming). It must support 4K/144Hz.
  • I have SONOS devices but I think I can directly use the HDMI eARC port from TV even with a hub/AVR
  • I’d like to spend the least possible money considering it will be only used as a HDMI hub

I’ve been looking for HDMI hubs with 6+ devices but seems not to exist. I’ve recently looked at AVR to use it as a « fancy HDMI hub ».

Hence, could you recommend hardware considering the constraints please?

Thanks in advance and sorry if I’ve made mistakes, I’m totally new to this kind of hardware :)

I just want to confirm I'm on the right track and not about to damage my receiver and/or speakers.

Receiver:

Sony STR-DH590 (rated for 6-16 ohm impedance)

Speakers:

  • Two Onkyo SKF-420F (8 ohm impedance)

  • Two Bose Model 101 Music Monitors (4 ohm impedance)

I want to use the two 8 ohm speakers for the left & right, and wire the two 4 ohm speakers in series (combining impedance to 8 ohms) for the center.

Hello all. Just got a Denon 760H and am looking into the speakers/sub for a good 3.1 setup. I was looking at the buying guides sub but I’m guessing the recs on the pinned post are old because half the links are broken.

This setup will be mixed use between television, gaming, movies and music. Preferably under $1500 but if you have arguments that that’s not enough I’ll definitely hear you out.

Thanks in advance!

Existing 7.2.4, light-controlled, dedicated theater setup:

  • Denon AVR-X4500H
  • External Emotiva amps for all channels
  • Bowers & Wilkins 700 series for fronts, center, and rears. BW in-wall and in-ceiling series for sides and Atmos overheads.
  • SVS subs
  • JVC NZ8 projector
  • Stewart Filmscreen StudioTek 130 G4 110” screen

Options for 2024 upgrade project:

  • Add an image processor like MadVR Envy or Lumagen Radiance Pro
  • Upgrade the AVR which would probably be to go fully with separates to keep the processing and the amplification separated.
  • Add a Kaleidescape as my main source for streaming content
  • something else y’all recommend
  • or maybe I should just enjoy my current setup and find a new hobby for 2024

Is there a key upgrade that will take my theater to a whole other level?

So far in the price range there is the Onkyo 7100, the Pioneer Elite 305, The Denon 3800 (which has 4 subwoofer outs). And for a little bit more, the Emotiva which has allegedly an inferior calibration setup.

Is there a yamaha offering ? What about upcoming or a couple year old models ? I would like hdmi 2.1 since I'll likely be upgrading to a hisense u8k when a good sale price happens.

I received a set of used Klipsch tower speakers and a Sony receiver.

Klipsch Icon KF-28 // Sony STR-DH590

I just hooked it all up and it seems that one of the speakers may be blown/damaged. It’s like there’s no treble in comparison to the other.

Is there anything to test to know for sure that it’s damaged? I have played some 2ch test audio from youtube that bounces back and forth L/R and it is distinctly different/bad sounding.

Are there any ideas of a potential simple fix? Possible that the speaker wire/connection is bad? a setting to check/change? (When I move the wire around there is no change to the audio so I would be surprised it’s that.)

The speakers have 2 sets of posts for bi-amping or whatever and when I changed which set I used, the sound did change. Seems slightly better maybe? but still bad. Is there a proper set to use or personal preference or should be no difference?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello! I just received the Fluance Elite 7.1 Speaker System for my home theater. But I have a question about the placement of the bookshelf speakers. Do they go on the sides or the rear? Because there are two other speakers labeled surround speakers that came with the center speaker.

Thank you in advance!
