Original Title: Just ran my first optimization with MSO on my two subs and these are the before and after (predicted) response curves. It definitely looks better so now time to see how it sounds... Do y'all just use the sample target curve that MSO gives and then make adjustments?

So far in the price range there is the Onkyo 7100, the Pioneer Elite 305, The Denon 3800 (which has 4 subwoofer outs). And for a little bit more, the Emotiva which has allegedly an inferior calibration setup.

Is there a yamaha offering ? What about upcoming or a couple year old models ? I would like hdmi 2.1 since I'll likely be upgrading to a hisense u8k when a good sale price happens.

So we bought a new TV and receiver and our sub still seems to not be working. We had hot issues with our previous receiver. Most of the speakers wouldn't work through it anymore. So we assumed most of the problems were from the receiver. We gotta new one with our new TV, new speaker wire for all the speakers and a new cable for the subwoofer, after the original cable didn't seem to be making it work. I've been through all of the settings in the new surround sound system, a Yamaha 7.2 channel, and and everything's on for the subwoofer. Receiver is in auto. The sub has power. The light comes on, stays green for a while. Then goes into standby mode because nothing is coming through to the sub. I've messed with the phase, low pass frequency and level controls. The power light is on so it shouldn't be the fuse. It won't even produce a test tone for the receiver but it has a slight vibration when playing music... I'm so frustrated! It's an Advent ASW1200. Receiver is a Yamaha RX-V6A with a brand new digital audio cable. Found the manual for the sub, should I try running the front speakers through the sub as its hookup option? It shows you can run the front speaker wire in and out of the sub as opposed it the digital audio cable but is that safe with my Yamaha receiver? It was expensive I can't be frying it over a sub that might be toast anyway. I just want my bass!

I received a set of used Klipsch tower speakers and a Sony receiver.

Klipsch Icon KF-28 // Sony STR-DH590

I just hooked it all up and it seems that one of the speakers may be blown/damaged. It’s like there’s no treble in comparison to the other.

Is there anything to test to know for sure that it’s damaged? I have played some 2ch test audio from youtube that bounces back and forth L/R and it is distinctly different/bad sounding.

Are there any ideas of a potential simple fix? Possible that the speaker wire/connection is bad? a setting to check/change? (When I move the wire around there is no change to the audio so I would be surprised it’s that.)

The speakers have 2 sets of posts for bi-amping or whatever and when I changed which set I used, the sound did change. Seems slightly better maybe? but still bad. Is there a proper set to use or personal preference or should be no difference?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I recently bought a PB-2000 (non-pro) 2nd-hand and have been loving it. I've probably watched 60+ hours of content on it by now and it's been amazing.

Last night I was watching Inception on 4k Blu-ray and noticed during the bar scene around 1hr25mins, when "Mr. Charles" mentions the strange weather and some bass notes come in to signify the time dilation. The PB-2000 was chuffing quite badly. I was under the impression this should not be an issue with the SVS.

I am using a Denon S970H. The Sub gain is set to around 2/3 on the knob, crossover to LFE and phase 0. I ran Audessey: LFE is 120hz, crossovers manually set to 80hz from 60hz, and the sub level was set to (-8.5db) and left there.

Is this just a similar situation to the Edge of Tomorrow intro? I am confused as I have not seen any mentions of chuffing or overdriven subwoofers from Inception.

I have a soft “fabric” style home theatre screen. Someone, who shall remain nameless, hit the screen with a plastic VR controller. The screen is not actually damaged but there is a scuff mark (right in the middle of the screen unfortunately). Can anyone tell me how I can remove the mark without damaging the screen? The mark is thin, about 4 inches long and dark grayish in color.

I read a while back on this sub that up-firing speakers are the soundbar equivalent of Atmos speakers. What if the upfiring speakers are wall-mounted? The Kef Q50a's will be delivered in a couple of days. Should I cancel and get some Kef Ci series (ceiling mounted) speakers instead? I'm not too keen with cutting out some huge holes on the ceiling unless it makes a huge difference compared to one's mounted on the wall. These will be pared with the R3 fronts, R2C center, and Q150 rears.

I see a lot of recommendations for the Denon AVR-S760H, but good/better prices on the Denon AVE-S960H.

Why is the 760 better? It seems to have fuller hdmi 2.1 features? If I'm not really gaming on it, is there any reason to go with the 760 over the 960?

I imagine they must exist, do they? In case the title of any clear, looking for PJs that adjust the top of the displayed image to the top of the physical screen regardless of source format.

Hello all,

Recently when I turn on my amplifier that’s connected to my speakers that’s connected to my tv, it’s picking up audio from my upstairs neighbours.

Anyone know how to fix this issue?

I recently replaced my Sherwood home cinema receiver with Denon AVR-S660H and am struggling with the equalizer settings. My old receiver was simple; bass, treble, and balance. Whichever setting I use it doesn’t sound right. I also have cognitive difficulties recently so need some help setting up.
