Hi,

I am looking for a center speaker.

My setup is 3.1

What would be a good center speaker (great vocal clarity) to match the sound profile and timbre of my two Polk Tower (RTi10)?

My current receiver is Marantz Cinema 50. I plan to get Dirac Live.

I have an X90L and an older Pioneer receiver - VSX-523 with L,R,C speakers.

The receiver does not support HDR or Dolby Vision, so running HDMI through the receiver doesn’t work well. I currently have the AppleTV 4K connected to the TV, and optical out from TV to receiver. The audio crackles and stutters intermittently. It’s a brand new cable so I suspect it’s an issue with the optical portion of the receiver. I’ll try optical in with a different source and cable to confirm.

What are my options? The receiver has RCA, Coax and HDMI in. Is something like an optical to rca adapter worth a try? Anything I can do before giving in and upgrading the AVR?

I just wanted to reiterate to those browsing this subreddit that are on the fence about buying a sound system that it is definitely worth it to transition from their tv speakers/soundbar.

I had previously owned a Vizio Elevate, and, although I do believe it is a great soundbar, I can confidently say that putting together a traditional sound system has been very rewarding from both a learning perspective and from an audio quality perspective.

I decided to put together a higher quality 3.1 system instead of a lower quality 5.1 since I knew I could upgrade down the line (2 Klipsch RP 8000f II, Klipsch RP 504C II, and a SVS PB 2000 Pro). I was a little nervous about missing the "7.1" surround sound and upfiring atmos, but I have not missed it at all. Even without surrounds I find that this 3.1 system is more immersive because of the higher quality and the spacing of the towers around the tv.

Not to say soundbars don't have their purpose, but I have been extremely pleased with this transition.

I currently have a 77G2 with a Shield Pro. My 5.2.2 speakers are going unused since my kids started waking up to the noise and I just use the pre outs on my AVR to feed a couple of analog EQ and amps for headphones. I recently discovered Dolby Atmos For Headphones and while it's no comparison to a multichannel loudspeaker setup, it's amazing compared to headphones being fed straight stereo.

Does anyone have a good setup for headphones atmos in a home theater? I like the UI of the Shield and would rather not switch to a PC. I'm thinking about using an Xbox Series X instead of a Shield and running headphones off of the Xbox controllers. Any better solutions out there?

Seems impossible to find a processor that just does 5 or 7 channels. Not everyone has the budget, desire, or approving spouse to install a 16- channel setup in their living room. Am I the only one annoyed by this?

I know it’s about dazzling consumers with specs and one-upping the competition. But come on!

Is their away to set the subwoofer to be on or off in the different sound modes? Like the sub does not come on in Multi Stereo but, in Dolby Surround the Subs r on. I don't see anything, other then the crossover and the LFF and Main. Would love to have subs on in Multi Stereo if I could and be able to switch on or off be great too, Thanks!

More of a question about personal preference but when using an entertainment unit, do you prefer it to be longer than the TV, shorter or as close to the width as the TV as possible? what looks more "right" and pleasing in your eyes?

Does anyone else have issues with this receiver? Everytime I use Bluetooth for music all the highs are kinda distorted and muddy but the vocals sound good. It’s really bad when drivers hit the cymbals. That’s when I notice it the most.
