Hi all!

I’m trying to get a more universal headphone setup for late night gaming sessions when the wife and kids are sleeping. Right now, for Xbox and PlayStation, I just connect directly to the controller, but this leaves out my switch and other retro systems.

My tv has an audio out, just left/right rca outputs, and I think an spdif connection. The rca outputs output at a static (loud) volume from when I’ve tried this setup wired before.

So what I’m looking for is a non Bluetooth (too much latency for me, even with the newer codecs) wireless transmitter/receiver. I would be opposed to dedicated headphones for this purpose, but having a separate receiver that the headphones plug into would let me use whatever headphones I have. The problem is that either I’m failing horribly with my google searching or such a product just doesn’t exist. Which brings me to my question: does anyone have any recommendations on a device that would fit my needs? Or any tips on what else I should be searching for?

I have the Sony SSCS3 L/R tower speakers. I've been hearing a lot of negativity surrounding the 2-way MTM center channels. The matching center for these towers is the SSCS8.

Should I get the SSCS8 as the center, or should I get a single bookshelf? I should be matching the center with the towers so I would have to get the SSCS5 booksehlf I'd imagine.

I’m thinking of placing my Subs at ear level, cause my left Sub vibrates an end table that has a glass top and it ruins the experience. Does anyone have their subs at ear level?

Subs are two SVS2000 Pro. Can I move the end table? No I can’t cause I have a wife who wants her end table.

Original Title: Considering mounting the Epson LS12000 in my attic to project onto the slanted ceiling. Currently, propping it against a chair. Would the projector be able to correct for the slant/grade depicted in the attached image?

Jesus Christ, I haven’t jumped out of my seat like this in years. The dynamics and atmos in the jump scare scenes are truly terrifying. I feel like a deer in headlights, just unable to move for a split second while trapped in a thunderstorm as my eyes stay glued to the screen, unable to move.

It’s probably even more intense for those with buttkickers in their seats, I imagine. I’m used to jump scares being visual, but in this case the sharp audio just cuts right through my brain and turns it to mush for a second.

Any other shows or movies that scare the crap out of you like this show?

And people give Sony flack for their product naming. Check out that Xiaomi naming.

Anyway, I have a very strange issue between my Xiaomi projector and my Sony STR-DH790 AVR when it comes to ARC and CEC. When ARC is active the remote and built in Android TV becomes unresponsive. Like it takes maybe 2 min to move from menu item to menu item. If at all. Random button presses, soft resets. All kind of crazy stuff. As soon as I disable ARC on either device all goes back to normal.

This happens maybe 9 out of 10 times, but there is one time here and there where it actually works and I can navigate menus normally and audio plays perfectly.

My temporary solution has been to move to optical, while maintaining CEC on so I can power on and off with just one remote. Issue there is that audio control through CEC for the AVR using the Xiaomi remote does not work. I assumed CEC audio control was independent from ARC, but maybe I'm wrong there.

This exact same setup (cables and all) through ARC with a Sony HT-G700 sound bar worked flawlessly.

Any ideas on what might be going on?

So my whole life I’ve always had soundbars for my tv audio. I’ve always wanted AVR system with true dedicated speakers but never quite had the opportunity or setup for it.

However now that my basement is gutted and walls are open I think now is the perfect time to do it the right way. I don’t plan on doing my basement until around April or so but I want to start my research early and getting ideas.

The wife agreed (kinda) lol, but I have to keep it tidy. I was thinking possibly getting a L,C, ad R speaker to go on both sides of the tv and under it (tv will be wall mounted, possibly the G3 that goes flush) that go in wall or kinda flush to the wall to keep it looking clean. For the rears speakers nothing too big but sound good. I would also like Dolby Atmos and I believe those fire down so I was thinking in ceiling for those. Of course I’d also need a subwoofer.

So in total, I’m looking at 7 total speakers and a sub. I don’t think I need an avr system because I a have a Sonos amp that I use to run wire to outside speakers that I have. Or do I? I’m not sure, but if so I guess I’d need an AVR that supports Dolby Atmos? Like I said I’m a noob at this and will gladly accept any recommendations.

I’m not looking to get top of the line speakers but ones that are reasonably priced and will sound better than the best soundbar which is the q990c. I say that because I’ve heard it and think it sounds really good. However, if I’m gonna go this route I want it to be a step up.

What are some speakers that you guys recommend for what I’m looking to do? Looking forward to hearing all ideas and recommendations. Thank you!

Hi all, I got a Yamaha RXV4A for Christmas and it's been working great so far. I'm running a PS5 through the receiver for gaming and 4K movies on disc. PS5 to HDMI in, HDMI out to TV via eArc. TV is Sony A80J. When watching 4K movies on the PS5 I immediately noticed there's a significant audio lag. I have to offset by quite a bit - about 350ms to align it back up. The problem is that this puts the native apps on the TV out of sync. The TV has a setting to auto sync video and sound but it doesn't help, not enough. I'm not sure how I can fix this short of making an adjustment to the lipsync settings depending on what I'm doing, which is annoying.

Anyone have an thoughts or ideas?

Hey everyone,

We recently just got our two ceiling speakers in our home theater set up for Dolby Atmos (Speakers are Niles CM7PR, Receiver is Denon x1700h) and I noticed a potential issue.

Currently the two ceiling speakers are directly above the couch (middle of the couch), but after we wall mount our TV, we might want to move the couch to be closer to the screen. This means the two ceiling speakers might be slightly behind the couch (unlikely worst case scenario, 1-2 feet behind), and I'm not sure if this is going to cause issues whenever they are used.

We're in the process of renovating our space and so we'd still have time to move them from their original positions (these speakers came with the house), but that's obviously extra time/money which has to be justified. I wanted to ask if people here would know if it would be that detrimental to the sound for the ceiling speakers to be that far back, or does it not really matter too much?

EDIT: Forgot to mention we have 8 foot high ceilings, if that helps.

The first stand I had for my umik when running REW was lost. So as I am trying to re-do Dirac again, I needed to purchase another one. For some reason, I have purchased 3 separate stands and none of them work correctly (have even purchased adapters for the screw size) they either vibrate on the adaptor or the mic can’t be mounted flush. Am I crazy for thinking this should all be standardized? Or at least, for the price of this mic, they include proper adaptors for boom stands? I might just be being a dingus and yes I unscrewed the copper coloredscrew and it didn’t help.

Long story short I took all the stands apart and tried to redneck engineer a new stand but still was janky.

All I need to know is, what damn stand do I buy (boom) and can you share a link? Something that is just plug and play ?

Hey there, Im looking to upgrade my stereo installation with some surround speakers. I only got a stereo amp, so obviousy need a av one.

Steaming is handled through a bluesound node, and i could use the current amp for the main speakers (as long as de av receiver has a pre out for the front I/r)

Im looking secondhand/older models right now. Simply because stero is my main focus. I just need a simple, cheap brain for the surround sound. All that being said. I have the opportunity to buy a nad t757 with hdmi arc module build in for 350 euro. Since i dont have much knowledge of older models. Is this a good deal?

All advice is welcome!!

I used to have Xbox(series x)>->onkyo->benq projector, but I decided to try to switch it to get better video performance since I know my avr is dated.

I’ve switched to Xbox ->benq/hdmi1-> hdmi2->game input on onkyo.

I am not getting sound. I set the benq audio return to raw. What am I missing (besides a new receiver) on the onkyo setting or config? Is this even doable since I don’t see Arc on the inputs?

TIA!

Seeing a lot of ‘clearance’ prices for $100-200 off the $1,000+ price tags. Does anyone have experience, recommendations for nice HT seating that’s more in the range of $500-$800 or is everything basically ‘you get what you pay for’ in HT seating? Also best time of year to buy? Looking for 6-8 seats for a small theater.

I know 4seating has a sale now as do other places. Are these the best deals? Can I buy anything wholesale for cheaper anywhere?

I have fluance reference series speakers. I have the floor standing ones up front, and the bookshelf ones on stands. Worried about my kids knocking them over and having a speaker fall on them. My floor standing ones are significantly heavier, they don’t budge them. So, if I got a pair and put them as rears, and had the fronts and rears the same speakers, would that be okay? Yes I have a center and dual subs. Mounting the rears is not an option. Thanks!
