Basically - I have a 3.0 setup. I'd like to be able to airplay through my FL and FR speakers via Zone 2 while I'm browsing Netflix etc, and then with a button press switch the FL/FR speakers back to main zone with the center channel and watch my movie.

Currently I use the split video source option, but when I want to relink the video and audio channels the system has to cycle inputs and theres a black screen/silence for a couple seconds, which is just not as polished as I'm dreaming about. I've set up a webhook for Home Assistant to do this via button press, but that cycling of inputs really disrupts the flow.

So my questions:

  • Reading the manual it seems that Zone 2 can only be set for the rear surround speakers though...is this true, or is there any way around that?
  • AKA, is there a way to separate the left and right channel speakers to zone 2 so I can airplay while browsing, then switch them back to main zone without the TV going black and silent for those two seconds?

Thanks!

I picked up a denon s760h receiver. Seems nice enough. Total overkill for what I want, which is a 2.0 and then upgrade to 5.1 eventually (It has 7 channels?)

I hooked it up with a pair of elac b6.2 speakers.

So, if I sit at my couch, the speakers sound great. However, if I'm just sitting in the same room at my work desk (I work from home), they are muddled, and totally lack any detail.

I have an bizarrely shaped room admittedly, but I did not have this muddle problem with the soundbar I had previously (bless costco returns), nor did I have it with the tv speakers (which admittedly sucked, but didn't have this problem).

I was wondering what good speakers I can get say, under 400$ that won't have this problem?

_______________________ |bath| laundry | |_ __|_________| | | S~TV~S de| bd | sk| | | Couch __ ___| ~ ~| | bd | Dining | kitchen |\________| I labeled S for speakers.

When I sit on my desk on the far right, it's just mud. If I turn the speakers towards my desk when they are sitting by the TV, the mud sound stops, but obviously I don't want to play a game where I keep turning speakers.

Would like kef q150 or something in that nature solve this problem? What speakers are still good for theater usage,

My wife tends to use the TV a lot while I'm working, so this matters to me.

I have only 3 cables but they are hanging under tv against wall so that’s bothering me. I would like to hide the cables behind the tv so even when I pull it off the wall they don’t hang or show.

I obviously cannot ziptie or velcro the power cables to the wall mount because of when I pull the tv off the wall.

Why am I having such a brain fart with this? I feel so dumb.

I have been trying to play 4K HEVC UHD files in MKV container on my 4K TV. Its a Hisense U88 so it has HDR support. But no matter whatever I have tried I haven’t been able to get it to work properly.

The connection between my plex server and TV / ROKU / playstation is all ethernet. Nothing is on wifi.

  1. Plex client on TV smart app, is super choppy and doesn’t even start play back most of the time.
  2. Plex client on Roku Ultra (which supports DV and 4k) is also super choppy and the picture quality is awful (i have double and tripple checked that its on direct play).
  3. Plex client on my playstation 4 pro (which has 4k support). Same as 1 and 2.
  4. Direct play on VLC app on my smart TV mostly works but gets bogged down on certain scenes.
  5. I can play the file just fine on my PC on VLC player. Although the hdr doesn’t work as the monitor is just a plain vanila monitor.

I really am at my wits end here. Can’t install kodi on roku or PS4. I have the correct mode switched on on my tv with HDMI in enhanced mode. Connection to my receiver is via eArc. (Receiver doesn’t support 4k hdmi, but everything is connected directly to 4 x hdmi ports on the back of the tv). With eArc from tv transporting audio to the receiver.

Any help, pointers or ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

I'm not a huge fan of Sunbrite and the other 4 digit TVs since I plan to mount it under a gazebo, but I want it protected. I'm thinking of going generic 50-65" and then one of the hardshells, but some just mention a cover; do you not need something more stable for humidity etc?

Anyone have recommendations? Very flexible on pricing but like to keep it under 1K all in.

I have an Epson Powerlite 2045 and a Viveo soundbar. I have hooked up an hdmi from the projector and connected it to the hdmi port on my soundbar.

As far as media on my projector, I have a Roku plugged into my hdmi 1 as my source (audio hdmi is on hdmi 2 port)

However, I cannot seem to get any audio to play through my soundbar from the project. Is this setup I have even possible with the Roku on 1 hdmi and my sound on the other hdmi?

Do I need to by some sort of audio out to hdmi adapter?

Any ideas?

I came across the Q990B at a really good open box price and have had it for a year now. It has worked really well for me as I had a small room and it did its job. Now, I recently moved to a new room and it is a little difficult to place the rear speakers so I have just been using the soundbar and the sub for now. If I plan to have this setup for a while, would it benefit me more to get a good 3.1 system instead of using the Q990B and its sub without the rear speakers?

Edit: To add, the reason I am asking is because I know the Q990B is a premium soundbar and I got it for $500. I really am looking for good sound for my movies, so I wanted to know if it’s worth it to get something else based on the price I got the soundbar. I appreciate any advice given.

My current set-up has the .2 directly above the seating position -

Adding another two in ceiling, what is preferred - adding behind or in front of the current seating position? I do have about 10 feet of space in front of the seating position and about 5 feet in back of the sitting position.

As a second question, would adding them as angled on ceiling work as as well? And if so, is it best to place them in front or in back of the room?

Setting up my very first small home theater system w/ a focus on gaming and I’m trying to decide whether or not to go with a short throw (ST) or long throw (LT) projector. I’m looking specifically at these offering’s from BenQ: X3000i/X3100i (LT projectors) vs X500i/X300g (ST projectors). The reason I have chosen to narrow my choices to this selection is because I’ve heard nothing but great things about the latency and minimal lag when gaming. To note I am not super crazed about using 4k for gaming, but for movies and shows.

Where I am in need of objective/subjective input is choosing either to go with a ST or LT projector. My priority is to be able to accommodate a 100in projection with as little to no degradation to performance and image quality (obviously). Here’s the DILEMA, with the above chosen LT selections my mounting location would be about 163in-158in, when using the ProjectorCentral.Com calculator the LT projectors set at a distance of 163in would project an image of 143in.

Question 1. Does digital zoom impact image quality and or performance (per BenQ note, digital zoom DOES impact input lag)

Question 2. Is there a discernible image quality difference between ST and LT projectors?

Would love to hear the rest of the communities input (subjective/objective) on my situation. Thank you all for the help!

I stream about 95% of the time and today I decided to watch a Blu-ray. Wow the difference in audio quality is insane. Am I late to this knowledge or am I doing something wrong and the quality should not be this drastic?

The wife has finally given the go on upgrading things in our living room. Currently have a 55" with a sound bar. We do listen to a lot of music in the same space through 2 1991 mint Paradigm Studio Monitor towers, an SVS SB1000Pro, powered by a mint Denon DRA 1035R. The vinyl on the Bang & Olufsen sounds great. The overall space is around 16'x18', but awkward. Our actual viewing and listening distance is roughly 10'-11'.

I'd love a 77", but the wife thinks that would be way too large. Hopefully I can change her mind when we get in a store, lol!. But if I go 65" I'm getting an LG G3. But, anyway, I figure now would be a good time to do a sound upgrade as well. Surround placement would be a little awkward as is, and my wife will not abide wires.

So, I'd like to put together a simple 3.1 system. For R/L channel I figured we'd use the Paradigms. Though I do have a pair of Klipsch RB 61-II's unused in storage downstairs. For sub, I'll just use the SVS. I'm gonna need an amp that can run those Paradigms and do center channel. 4k pass thru. I don't need anything fancy, but quality. I will be hooking up my long neglected Sony 4k Blu Ray player.

Also need a center channel. I can't give a definite budget. A lot comes down to how much I can talk my wife into, lol! I may very well be able to convince her a $1000 center channel would be great, but probably not. Preferably something that compliments having 2 giant tower speakers and a sub.

Any advice is welcome. I would definitely consider myself a noob at this stuff.

I currently have a Denon 988 that I’m using as a preamp for a Rotel 1075. Im I’m looking for something that supports 4k with ARC as with solid audio processing. I’m absolutely willing to buy used. The idea is to spend as little as possible. A phono in would be a nice bonus

I currently have a Roku plugged into my LG C3 eARC HDMI Port with a TOSLINK out to my receiver in order to bypass my old Yamaha’s “4K pass through”. I’m wondering if it is possible to control the volume on my receiver in some way with this setup. Alternative is to have three remotes versus two. Thanks in advance!

I just hooked up my PB16 Ultra to an existing sound system that I have and also have a pair of Ultra towers and center channel on order. I was impressed with the PB16 ultra’s low bass but it is lacking a bit in the mid bass for my taste. I have instead been looking into the PSA TV2112 since I am still within my trial period. Is there any other alternatives in the <$3k range that offer more of a chest slam, low extension, and higher output?

I will be running my 3.1 system off of my Anthem receiver and XPA 3 amp. So I guess my other question is what would be a good set of towers in the <$2k range and center in the $800ish range that would be a 1 up on the Ultra towers and center when paired with a subwoofer?

I do prefer more of an exciting profile and I will be using this setup for 50/50 ht/music
