I stream about 95% of the time and today I decided to watch a Blu-ray. Wow the difference in audio quality is insane. Am I late to this knowledge or am I doing something wrong and the quality should not be this drastic?

The wife has finally given the go on upgrading things in our living room. Currently have a 55" with a sound bar. We do listen to a lot of music in the same space through 2 1991 mint Paradigm Studio Monitor towers, an SVS SB1000Pro, powered by a mint Denon DRA 1035R. The vinyl on the Bang & Olufsen sounds great. The overall space is around 16'x18', but awkward. Our actual viewing and listening distance is roughly 10'-11'.

I'd love a 77", but the wife thinks that would be way too large. Hopefully I can change her mind when we get in a store, lol!. But if I go 65" I'm getting an LG G3. But, anyway, I figure now would be a good time to do a sound upgrade as well. Surround placement would be a little awkward as is, and my wife will not abide wires.

So, I'd like to put together a simple 3.1 system. For R/L channel I figured we'd use the Paradigms. Though I do have a pair of Klipsch RB 61-II's unused in storage downstairs. For sub, I'll just use the SVS. I'm gonna need an amp that can run those Paradigms and do center channel. 4k pass thru. I don't need anything fancy, but quality. I will be hooking up my long neglected Sony 4k Blu Ray player.

Also need a center channel. I can't give a definite budget. A lot comes down to how much I can talk my wife into, lol! I may very well be able to convince her a $1000 center channel would be great, but probably not. Preferably something that compliments having 2 giant tower speakers and a sub.

Any advice is welcome. I would definitely consider myself a noob at this stuff.

I currently have a Denon 988 that I’m using as a preamp for a Rotel 1075. Im I’m looking for something that supports 4k with ARC as with solid audio processing. I’m absolutely willing to buy used. The idea is to spend as little as possible. A phono in would be a nice bonus

I currently have a Roku plugged into my LG C3 eARC HDMI Port with a TOSLINK out to my receiver in order to bypass my old Yamaha’s “4K pass through”. I’m wondering if it is possible to control the volume on my receiver in some way with this setup. Alternative is to have three remotes versus two. Thanks in advance!

I was thinking of returning my rs300 to get the YPAO feature on the rxv385. It’s also cheaper and has more upgradability. Will I notice a difference sound quality wise?

Thanks

I’d like to compile and edit a short Demo for my home theater, while showcasing bombastic Dolby Atmos and vibrant Dolby Vision! I’m trying to avoid having to put on an entire movie and swapping between discs or scrubbing through scenes to ‘the good parts.’

We could make it fun, add our own version of the AMC “We come to this place, for magic-“

The question is how to maintain the quality of the 4K Discs I have? With the spacial audio of Dolby Atmos and the peak luminance levels of Dolby Vision’s HDR within a renderable file I can edit whenever.

Is it just a matter of Ripping my 4K BluRays and having proper editing software to maintain the Atmos and HDR metadata within the file?

I'm basically deciding between a 77G3 and a Sonos bar/ sub or getting the A95L77 if I can find one.

So someone on marketplace is selling these as a package for 180. Is this a good deal? Still learning myself but want to get some things to get going. Will be using them for movies/YouTube and music about 60/40 use. Thank!

Just purchased a Hisense 55U8H TV for my aging parents, but they are having trouble hearing the TV audio from about 15 feet away. They are looking for a solution to set up speakers closer to where they sit so that they don't need to turn the TV up to 100.

I'd prefer to stay wireless to avoid any cables running on the floor, but want to ensure the Bluetooth connection is very stable and connects everytime they turn on/off the TV as they are not tech-savy.

The TV itself has Bluetooth, an audio out jack (likely the best stable option) and HDMI eArc.

I tried pairing a simple set of Bluetooth speakers that bridge themselves to one another (cheapos at Amazon), but the system is just not as reliable as I hoped for. I also noticed that when the TV is connected to any BT audio device, the TV speakers themselves will turn off.

Appreciate any advice you're able to provide, hopefully from a proven experience. Thx.

I have a Klipsch center, L/R, and subwoofer at the moment. The speakers I'm considering - Klipsch RP-502S Reference Premiere Surround Speakers - Pair, copy and paste that on Amazon - are from the same model series as my current setup and I figure it's good to maintain parity.

Are these the correct speakers to buy to place behind me for surround sound? I only ask because I'm fairly new to this and have never really seen these "two-faced" speakers before as opposed to regular L/R speakers.

I am able to connect to AirPlay to my Denon S720W with my iPhone and iPad, but when I try on my Mac it loads for awhile before telling me it is unable to connect. All 3 devices are on the same wifi network. I have made sure the firmware is updated as well.

Can anybody help me figure out what's wrong? Thanks!

Hi there !

I recently bought a Panasonic UB420 (bluray player) and it worked extremely fine with my tv but I tried to connect with my Epson tw6800 projector and it says no signal or can't connect.

I tried to play 4k disk and it straightaway showed the movie (no main menu) and bluray disk didn't even go through the movie.

I just don't know why it doesn't work with my projector even though I used the same HDMI cable to connect with my tv (which works perfectly) and doesn't even show the main menu.

Is there anyone having the same problem? Also, I'm considering to get a fire tv cube to connect Panasonic to fire tv cube as it has external HDMI input and wonder if that's worth it.

Thanks!

I currently have a hifi setup that includes a Marantz NR1506 and B&W 685 S2s from 8 ish years ago. If I want to re-purpose that equipment to include an ultra short throw projector, for example the Hisense 120L9H-CINE120A from Costco, would the Marantz be up to the task or would I need to upgrade it? The specs say it supports 4K pass through but not really sure what else to look for in receiver specs. Not a videophile at all so only looking for something decent looking.

Am I correct in assuming other obvious upgrades would be adding a subwoofer and 2 rear speakers? Can the projector’s speaker be used as the centre channel? Aesthetically in the room I may skip the rear speakers entirely.

Thanks!!
