I still love buying DVDs. You can find great deals and I like knowing I own something.

have a centralized cabinet with my gaming desktop, AVR, network switch, etc. my office room is across the house and there are 2 75' fiber DP cables and a 75' powered usb 3.0 extension cable going between the office and cabinet. the USB goes to a hub for a mouse, headset and keyboard.

wanting some ceiling speakers in the office for when i work from home with my work laptop. possibly to sometimes use for the gaming desktop.

i have a DAC/headphone amp inside the cabinet for my gaming desktop with some 14 awg cable going into the office that is terminated to a 3.5mm headphone jack keystone plate. this is for when i want to use headphones better than my wireless headset. i simply switch inputs within windows between the USB dongle and the headphone amp.

this is the idea concocted in my head:

install ceiling speakers in office, run the cables to an amplifier in the cabinet.

use a stereo mixer inside of the cabinet. have one input coming from a new USB sound card in the gaming desktop, and another input be an additional cable going into the office room for an extra headphone jack keystone plate.

the gaming desktop will now have 3 output options within windows; the usb headset, the dac/headphone amplifier going to headphone jack #1 in the office room, and now an additional USB soundcard for when i might want to use the ceiling speakers.

the idea is that i can work from home and use a basic "aux cord" between the new 3.5mm jack in the wall and the laptop. the only caveat is that it might be weird to use the ceiling speakers for the desktop and laptop at the same time.

where this is more hometheater related;

i also have a generic 7.1 setup in the living room with a denon s760 which has generic RCA audio inputs. would using a splitter at the mixer output reasonably work? one would go to the ceiling speaker amplifier and another would go to the AVR. if i wanted to work in the living room then that issue would be solved.

or is there a better solution for this? srry for long post. tried to not be so verbose

I’m super new to this whole deal, but wanted to get some speakers for music, movies, and video games on my Xbox. Settled on a pair of KEF Q150s that are on the way.

I’m looking for recommendations on an a relatively inexpensive (maybe used) AVR for my first setup. Eventually, I’d like to upgrade when I’m able to afford a center speaker, subwoofer, and a couple surround speakers, but for now I’m trying to improve my living room setup on a budget. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

So this new Dune player evidently plays and displays the DV profile 7's fel layer. Where as other players will play them but it doesn't actually show the fel layer. Does the profile 7 fel layer look noticeably better? also it sounds like it only works on the blu-ray rips and not mkv, I don't think mkv supports fel layer, wonder if it eventually will?

I have a onkyo 6100 , energy 7.1 speakers with a svs sub. Everything set to 80 hrz . Tv, movies and music all sound decent. The most I’m using it for lately is playing hockey on PS5 . It’s not bad , but I was hoping to hear more of the big hits and body checks more to the sub or something. Is there a way to make some changes or am I stuck with how the game was produced . 🤷🏻‍♂️

Should I do it before the delivery person leaves? Is it possible to test from a USB drive?

I have mounted my projector to the ceiling and I am trying to connect an hdmi cable from the projector to my soundbar on the other side of the wall (about 14’).

I’ve cut about a 5” by 5” square above where the project is mounted and have tried fishing the wire across the ceiling. I taped it to some fishing tape I bough and trying pushing it across but I was having a lot of trouble getting stuck on things and not knowing where I was above the ceiling.

What is the best way to do this?

Setup: 5.1 setup TV Sony x90k (I use the built-in android tv) for all of my streaming viewing) Current avr Yamaha rx a1060 F/lr/srd kef q650c/q750/q150 Sub SVS pb2000 LG blueray player PS5 Xbox one X

Soon to get a pair of polk owm3s for front presence speakers.

I'd like to go 5.1.4, but it seems like a lot of money for 2 speakers. I'd get higher wattage. I have no problem getting vrr with my ps5 plugged into my TV so while it'd be nice to plug directly into an avr I'm fine for now. Is there anything else I'm missing? I don't have the space for 2 back surrounds.

Is it worth paying $1200 for a refurbished a6a?

I’m in the market for a new tv. Finally retiring the old 1080P Panasonic Plasma from 2012. Still works fine, just a little dated tech wise and a power hog. Never did watch a full movie with the 3D glasses or even purchase the smart pens , but it’s been a great TV.

I have no blue rays or cable boxes and have no desire for them . This new tv will be only hooked to an Apple TV 4K. With that being the case , would I be wasting my money buying an ultra premium tv?

Knowing basically nothing about this stuff I presume that at some point in the tv price/quality tier there comes a point where the stream quality even in ideal conditions would not be able to take full advantage of the display technology . Like should I buy a supercar if it will have a governor that keeps it under 55mph and has a gas tank that only 1 pint of fuel? Is that a good analogy?

Note : We do have game consoles but they are on their own LG OLED and won’t be used on this tv.

Hi all, I am looking to build my way into a home audio setup. Have been using an entry level LG soundbar/sub combo for years and looking to upgrade. I'd like to build my way into a 5.1 setup and am looking for opinions on speakers and the best way to build. I was considering starting with a Denon s660h and some bookshelf speakers, then later adding a sub and center, and then even later the rear speakers. I had been eyeing the Q acoustics 3010i speakers, but am open to any suggestions as I am very new to to audio scene.

My I'd like to spend maybe $1500 -$1700 total.

Hello everyone!

I’m planning to build a home theatre in my new den, which measures 25 feet by 16 feet(wrote 12 feet by accident in the title). I have a budget of under $20,000 USD, but it’s important to note that I’m located in India, so taxes and customs will likely add approximately 30% to the cost of each item.

I’m looking for recommendations on the following components, I mostly using the setup to play games watch movies and host music party’s

1. Projector/Screen: I already have a 85 inch OLED
2. Sound System: A high-quality surround sound system that can immerse me in my movies and music.
3. Other Accessories: Any other essential items or cool additions you think would be a great fit for a home theatre setup.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on brands, models, or general setup advice. Also, if anyone has experience with importing such items to India and dealing with customs, your insights would be invaluable.

Thank you in advance for your help!
