The songs don't necessarily have to be by a Japanese artist, but they should be in Japanese. This allows, for example, a non-Japanese Vtuber's Japanese songs and/or covers.

Have fun discovering songs you might've not known of or sharing your own favorites. And of course, don't insult someone for their music tastes (nor for other reasons).

Japanese troupe Sound Horizon, creating medieval-style fantasy musical experiences. Can't recommend enough watching the Marchen live concert to everyone.

It's a cover, but i prefer human singers over the vocaloid in most instances. Oozora Subaru is such a ray of sunshine, she brings a great energy to this dramatic song.

I'm lately obsessed with Akkanbe by Okayu. If anyone knows similar songs, feel free to share! (preferably with female vocalist)

Also i was just wondering if there is a community for japanese music on lemmy, so i hope we can make it work! I've tried to put some tags into the title, so people have easier time telling at glance, if they would like it or not, but to be honest i'm terrible at recognizing nuance between genres. One thing i know is that "Pop" category from amazon does not give the song justice

Let's kick things off with what is, well, probably a hard question, to get to know each other, since this is a new community. What is your favorite Japanese song?

I know a lot of people, myself included, would have a hard time deciding on a number 1, especially since it can and will change over time. So feel free to list several of your favorites if you can't choose. I'll post mine as well in a comment below.
