Went and got a full body mole map, because NZ sun is cooked. Turns out I got a BCC skin cancer on my head. Sweet, lets cut that fucker out.

Southern cross won't cover taking out the BCC. The reason.. because I got a keloid scar I didn't like the look of removed from my chest. I got it removed a year ago before I had health insurance. Turns out they treat the skin as one organ. Assholes. End rant.

When I chat with a new uni student I might ask them what they want to do for a job, what they do for fun, what interests them, what pisses them off, what motivates them.

In 20 years, I've never asked someone what their NCEA Results were. They don't define you and pretty quickly, many won't care.

It's ok to feel disappointed if you didn't get the results you wanted (especially if you missed out on a scholarship or perfect program you wanted to get into). You worked hard and if you didn't get what you expected, it can feel like a waste, but trust me, it's all good.

Whether you go to uni or not, whether you pick up a trade or just enjoy life for a bit, you'll realise how little a few bad marks make in your life especially if you tried your best.

There has been a lot of noise around the Regulatory Standards Bill in that submissions have closed. The reports I have been reading and listening to make it sound like the Select Committee process of submissions has closed, this is not the case!

What I would say to you is, submissions to the content of the Regulatory Standards Bill to the Ministry of Regulation have closed. This is feedback on what should be in the Bill, not submissions on the Bill itself.

The Bill itself has not been 'written' yet, and won't be introduced to Parliament until later this year. I understand Ministry of Regulation has received around 30,000 'submissions' (read feedback) on the contents of this Bill, this is more submissions than Parliament would usually get in an entire year!

Please note, the biggest issues with this Bill as I see it, is (beyond the content and the powers to the Minister of Regulation (Seymour))

- National and NZ First have signed up, in the coalition agreement, to support this Bill all the way through to legislating it. For them to vote against it they would be breaking the coalition agreement.

- It renders the Treaty Principles bill meaningless (and achieves worse outcomes).

This is just the beginning of this proposed Bill. Let's not drop the ball with this one.

What is up with the self service checkout now asking you questions after you scanned your last item, all I want to do is swipe my card to pay and gtfo! It makes me feel like youtube ads are coming mid scanning. 🙄 AU woolies doesn't do this.

Our family was given 3x $50 gift cards to a local restaurant at Xmas by my parents.

Tonight, we went to use the cards, and after ordering food, we were told it's Tuesday, so kids' meals were free. Total bill $126.

When we went to use the gift cards, we were told the kids eat free could not be applied, and we could only use one gift card at a time when dining.

There was no mention of this limitation on the cards or in the little folder they came in.

I mentioned to the manager that if I paid with a Prezzy card, would i get the discount.... yes...... so why are gift cards treated any differently? He just said it's the restaurant policy.

After some back and forth, we got them to break the meals and drinks down so we could use the 3 cards on 3 separate invoices, but no discount and a total of $158

Is this a common thing in restaurants?

I don't understand why the gift cards were not treated as cash? The cards were purchased at full price, not discounted.
