I worked out a trade deal for someone to do some soldering for me. I had three devices that needed soldering, and they could keep one for themselves if they soldered the three of them for me. Today I discovered that they didn't even attempt the soldering, they fucked up all three of the devices, such that the soldering job can no longer be done by anyone, and they want me to compensate them for the time they wasted trying to fix them without soldering. I asked them to do the job, in trade for keeping one, because I am ill and my hands won't do fine work any more. I definitely don't want to pay them for not doing the job I asked, which I asked them to do because I couldn't afford to pay someone to do it. The job is still not done and can never be done now. Am I wrong to be angry with them? Do I have to be grateful and compensate them for their time that they wasted not doing what I asked them to do?

I used to see Marley's Mellow Mood at Mac's, and I loved the stuff. Since they became Circle K, I haven't been able to find it anywhere. Have they stopped making it, or have places simply stopped carrying it?

I know at this point a lot of it is related to money, but there was a transitional time that led to this point that I'm still confused by.

What details changed about online spaces that made many folks more comfortable sharing so much under their real names between the "Be careful!" times to where we are now?

At this point in my life, I don't avoid spicy foods because I can't handle the taste of the spice, but more because of what that spice will feel like coming out the other end the next day.

Some cultures, like India for instance, are known to use very spicy ingredients in their daily cooking.

Are they all just used to having firey asses or have they developed some gut biome capable of neutralizing the capcasin before its inevitable exit?

Why are people quick to ban or block because a comment makes them angry, rather than engage, debate or respectfully strongly disagree and leave the discussion at that?

Why can't people handle talking with someone who has a completely different view who can explain why they are against something that was said?

I've heard this phrase so many times in my life I dont even think about it, but the more I dwell on it, I dont really get it

Also, I assume it would be for lemmy as a whole and not just my instance right?

I think having an option for posts to have tags would be neat and make it easier to find more fitting posts since the title won't always have the word you're looking for.

Are usernames single-use across all instances, or is it unique just to the one you signed up with?

I found the https://waveform.social/ instance while browsing for synthesizers communities, and the entire instance seems interesting to me and I'd like any content posted to that instance's local to appear in my subscribed list.

Is that possible?

I'd like to view the comments with the most upvotes first, but I can't figure it out.

As a general rule:

Machiavellianism is manipulation

Narcissism is looks

Psychopathy is violence

ChatGPT tells me this question is very offensive to psychopaths and refuses to answer.

I'm assuming this instance will only host some topics, which is all good. (Thank you for doing this at all!)

  1. How do I find topics I'm interested in? For example, I liked r/shortcuts but don't know where I'd find that in the fediverse.

  2. If topics are hosted at many different instances, then even if technically anyone can participate in ones hosted elsewhere, does that imply that they'll all have their own version of r/funny etc? And they'll never achieve as much scale?

(I do realize that reddit also allowed for that redundancy, and it worked just fine... I guess I'm wondering how that challenge/opportunity PLUS some aspect of tribalism would play out...)

Cheers!

Interstellar TARS and CASE usually just zips it and say 1 option and a percentage chance at best. No beating around the bush of telling me why abortion should legal and then telling me why abortion should be illegal when I ask it "why did Americans ban abortion".

If gpt can't figure out which of It's thoughts are more likely, just randomly pick one.

Best I can come up with is that if the conditions are too bad then it's human trafficking.

In both case they "consent" to do labor, however human traffickees are often tricked into a more casino-like raw deal.

In both cases, it's not uncommon to not be unable to quit the job.

Source: I know a lot of migrant labourers

Since they talk about 100% productivity, prob stims. Sedatives/tranquilizers to sleep afterwards?

Antidepressants? Since feeling emotions and being a human machine sounds depressing.

Changing keyboard layouts also sounds annoying considering it's not like i'm entering accents everyday

On windows it was like ctrl + alt + numpad 1 + . for accents or something, no compose key required
