Q: Why another community?

Most BC residents are not going to care about another Summerland Hwy 97 closure, so it feels odd to use the bigger communities. And yet, most smaller municipalities do not have a community and much of the news affecting them will apply to the rest of the Okanagan. So here we are.

William R Bennett Bridge closed since 4AM due to a bomb threat. Not expected to re-open until after noon. (www.castanet.net)

A van has parked itself sideways, blocking the Eastbound lanes. RCMP has closed both lanes of traffic due to a suspected explosive threat. Current estimate for re-opening is in the afternoon after a bomb squad has arrived and inspected the van.

Update: Bridge has re-opened as of 2:25PM

The forum will occur today (Sunday) from 7-9PM at Killiney Beach Community Hall, 514 Udell Road. A live stream will be available at nwcaonline.ca.
