I'm excited for the future of SC2. The fan base is relatively small and old but loyal and have jobs. Some of us are actually pretty well off. We learned something from the EWC experience. SC2 might actually be having a resurgence.

Edit:

Have a look on Twitter on the EWC account to see what I mean. It will make you a believer.

You get infinite gas from the beginning. Everything else stays normal. Your opponent is a top pro player (think Maru, Serral, Reynor, Clem, herO, MaxPax). Your opponent knows your MMR and that you have infinite gas. Both of you have the chance to prepare strategies and work on practice games.

My answer is yes. I'm 3K T/P, 2.8K Z on NA. Here are my builds:

  1. In general, the pro player shouldn't be able to defend a 1-base gas-heavy all-in, think 10-gate Archons or 10-rax Reapers, off of 1 base.
  2. Therefore, the pro's best chance is not to macro, but to rush you.
  3. So, you should be as safe as possible, considering your skill gap with the pro.
  4. Openers:
    1. PvP/Z: 12 pylon into immediate full wall with cannon. My wall completes before a 12 pool arrives.
    2. PvT: 12 pylon into non-stop gate and sentry production, until I have 5 gates and a super battery.
    3. TvP/Z: 12 depot into immediate full wall with a bunker. Rax is built behind the wall. The wall also seals before 12 pool arrival. The only thing that hits faster is a 12 pylon cannon rush. But my marine would be 10s faster than the first. Pull many SCVs to stop any high-ground structures. Then the marine can zone out the probe and high-ground vision will be fully denied.
    4. Z: I'm not familiar. Maybe 12 pool into immediate spines defend anything?
  5. Rush:
    1. PvP: 10-gate Sentries.
    2. PvT/Z: 10-gate Archons.
    3. ZvP/T: 1-base Ravager all-in. I can afford 1 Ravager per their 1 Zealot/~0.5 Stalker/2 Marines/~0.8 Marauders. Marauders sound a bit hard too beat. Marauder IMBA? Else should be overpowered.
    4. ZvZ: 12 pool into immediate banelings and then immediate baneling speed. I'm still not confident that my speed ling-bane can beat Serral/Reynor's slow pure lings tho. ZvZ is a tough matchup.
    5. TvZ: 10-rax Reaper should do it. Lings/Queens/Roaches/Spines all couldn't stop it.
    6. TvP/T: 4-rax Reaper into immediate Tank/Viking (vT) Tank/Liberator (vP) rush.
  6. Race selection: I think P is the easiet. PvZ/P I'm 100% confident. PvT I'm also confident, but it's more complicated. If Maru/Clem turtles on their main ramp, I can't break in and have to transition to Carriers maybe. The more time passes, the more time for them to out-execute me in micro/multi-tasking.

Serious question - balance whiners please go away, there's no balance patch for 4.5 months before EWC. Yet Clem seems transformed during EWC.

Here're some stats:

From Nov 12, 2023 to Mar 25, 2024 (last patch was on Mar 26), Clem's map score was 448-151, a win rate of 74.8%

From March 27, 2024 to Aug 13, 2024 (EWC began for Clem on Aug 14), Clem's map score was 382-119, a win rate of 76.2%, less than 1.5% difference post-patch vs pre-patch.

I also checked Clem's form right before EWC: July 20 to Aug 13, Clem's map score was 56-26, a win rate of 68.3%, not far from the overall rate during the 9 months before EWC.

But since EWC, Clem had an incredible 51-5 map score (91.1% winrate) against many top players. The only 5 maps he lost were all against Reynor, which means he hasn't lost even one map against players that he frequently lost maps or even matches against, such as Serral, MaxPax, herO, Byun,

How did Clem make such a huge improvement all of a sudden? Winter has a video titled "Clem solved Starcraft". Except for Reynor, it does seem that Clem solved SC2. That kind of map score is like AlphaStar that wasn't toned down enough. I've been a Clem fan since probably at least two years ago, but never saw him improve so much so suddenly. Is it some special training, coaching, resting ...? Would be interesting to hear what Clem thinks of his transformation.

Hi all, I have been trying my hand at content creation for about 6 months now and I could use some advice. I won't give my name or channel or anything as I'm pretty sure that's considered advertising and is against the rules. Anyways, I upload my ladder matches with live commentary at the GM level, I play all 3 races. I've been doing this for about 6 months. While I have seen steady growth, it is painfully slow at around +1 sub a week give or take.

In those 6 months I have worked really hard on creating cool thumbnails, attention grabbing (but not clickbait) titles, and most importantly of all good gameplay and commentary. However, I have only gained around 50 subs in half a year and my viewership is very chaotic. Most weeks I will average 5-20 views a video, then every 6 weeks I'll randomly get a video shoot over 1k, then back to 5-20 views. I'm not sure if youtube is just not showing my videos or if people just don't want to watch me or like what I'm doing.

I guess what I'm wondering is a few things: how willing are you guys to check out new channels? Do you browse youtube for starcraft or do you just stick to your favorite channels when they upload new stuff? (For me its Harstem and Mana for example) What type of stuff do you like to see in regards to SC2 on youtube?

If you got this far, I thank you greatly, I appreciate it and hope you have a great day

This is the only game that I have, where whispers linger in my chat box and pop up after every game. So now I have, for the rest of the evening, "I HATE P*SS**S PLAYING AIR" pop up after every game I play :D

ps. yes I know I can just exit the game and come back, but I also think it's kind of a nice motivational reminder for myself.

I see lots of high level players upgrade the armor and weapons on ground and air units (more weapon than armor with those) but never the shield. The little ive read says that it’s better to invest the cash in armor or weapon upgrades, but why? In theory a shield upgrade helps every single unit and building you’ve got. Can anyone help explain?
