Clem played a -phenomenal- tournament. An absolute monster.

His play kinda reminds me of a younger Maru but more polished (no i dont mean to compare the two as they are now nor may any implication about GOAT status or who is better blabla)

Maru these days is known for his vaunted turtling and his ability to pace the game into a spot where he can secure a few bases and just sit there and let enemies bash their heads against a seemingly unbreakable wall before busting out and running over his opponent. But earlier in his career, Maru was borderline psychotic in his aggression and control. I really see Clem playing a similar style but just to a higher degree if I do say so myself.

Game 4

Clem LITERALLY didn't lose a single fight that entire 30+ minute game. For so long Maru was the only one who looked like they could make that work, and that performance blew away any game I ever saw Maru play in lategame TvZ.

As a few probably have heard a few hours ago a hacker was streaming while using hacks not sure what mmr he started it but he started losing a lot because many eu top players decided to snipe this guy and taking turns who would go next. This dude got canon rush into dt and got humiliated everyone was laughing at chat about how bad player he is. I know he might be doing this attention and this post is probably feeding it but this is how hackers should be treated by keeping us together.

I made a couple sheets encoding the matches and player wins and specifically, non-mirror matches (before the final 4).

That is, I recorded all matches before the final 4, filtered by non-mirror matches, and put a hypothetical - what if we exclude all matches that involve certain players.

STATISTICS DISCLAIMERS FIRST

• group A had wayyy too many TvTs, hence top players like Maru have less of an impact than it seems
• the percentages remove ALL mirror matches. So some players appear to perform bad because their mirror match wins are not counted, but their non-mirror match losses are counted.
• And the usual disclaimers about small sample size and seeding apply.
• when excluding a player, ALL of their matches are excluded before calculating the race percentages.

Some observations

• Protoss has won 8/17 non-mirror matches, or 47%. Sounds pretty balanced right?
  • herO is responsible for 6 of them.
  • without herO, protoss non-mirror match rate drops to 22%.
• Zerg has won 12/19 non-mirror matches, or 63%. Sounds broken right?
  • Serral and Dark combined are responsible for 7 of them.
  • Without the 2, Zerg would drop to 5/11, or 45% win rate.
• Reynor is actually negative for non-mirror Z performance right now.
  • If Reynor matches were removed, Z win rate shoots up to nearly 70%.
  • No shade to Reynor! He has had a tough gauntlet. all 3 of his losses came from a final 4. And 2 of them from herO, who is playing out of his mind. And his ZvZ win is not counted.
  • In fact, 3/5 qualifying zergs contributed 0 or less to Z win rates
• Terran has won 8/20 non-mirror matches, or 40%.
  • Without Clem that drops to 29%
• Maru is not very impactful for non-mirror matches right now simply because of the number of TvTs he played.
