In the competitive world of StarCraft II, where strategies clash and quick thinking is paramount, one might expect the atmosphere to be intense and sometimes harsh. However, my recent experiences on the ladder have been refreshingly different. I am filled with admiration for the politeness and joy exhibited by my opponents during our matches.

From the moment a game begins, the exchanges have been courteous and uplifting. Opponents greet with a sincere "get cancer" (good luck, have fun), setting a tone of mutual respect. It’s a small gesture, but it makes a significant difference, reminding us that while we compete fiercely, we are also part of a shared community.

What stands out even more is the positive demeanor many players maintain throughout the game. Whether they are winning or facing a tough challenge, they often take the time to compliment good plays or acknowledge the effort put into a hard-fought battle like "you so stupid" or "f2+a still works". This sportsmanship is not just about being polite; it’s about recognizing the skills and dedication of fellow players, fostering an environment where everyone can enjoy the game.

After a match, win or lose, the interactions have often been just as gracious. Congratulatory messages or thoughtful feedback on the game have become common, leaving me with a sense of camaraderie rather than mere competition. It’s heartening to see players who genuinely enjoy the game and respect their opponents, regardless of the outcome.

In a game where every second counts and the pressure is high, the politeness and joy of my ladder opponents have been a breath of fresh air. Their attitudes have enhanced my gaming experience, making each match not just a test of skill but also an opportunity to connect with others who share the same passion for StarCraft II. To all those who bring such positivity to the ladder: thank you. Your sportsmanship and good spirits are truly commendable and greatly appreciated.

btw i´m a Zerg 4.5k on EU :)

peace!

Papa Dark cooked my boy Maru and won with a score of 4-2.

Dark had tears coming down talking about his daughter. Got me teary eyed as a father myself.

Congrats, old man!

There was very mixed messaging here. They kept saying "last GSL" but also talked about more announcements and the future. Which is it?

Anyways, if it was, it was a wild run and I'll always cherish the memories.

Basiaclly what I did was wait for the queue time to hit 2 seconds remaining then queue up and it somehow managed to boot him off before he booted me

Mech players. Ohhh mech players. We all now at least one. As a humble, hardworking bio Terran myself, I’m often overcome with a sense of pity for my simple-minded mech friends. For years I made excuses for them:

“He’s figuring out the game bro, let him play the style he likes”

“Mech is really strong in TvZ man, he’s being strategic”

It’s starts off harmless enough. Perhaps your mech friend dabbles in a little cyclone Helion. Maybe he enjoys the occasional 1/1 tank all in. But what seems like a quaint, silly little hobby at first will inevitably, sooner or later, metastasize into a full blown mech addiction.

The signs are subtle at first. The third base starts becoming a planetary instead of an orbital. Their engineering bay will be researching building armor and turret range as suspiciously early junctures. And before you know it: Turrets everywhere, planetaries in every choke point, and more tanks than the battle of El Alamein.

You’ll be 35 minutes into a TvT on Goldenaura, breathlessly spamming Vikings and researching liberator range wondering where it all went wrong. Why can’t two decent men agree to Stim their marines into each other’s tanks over and over again like a normal, healthy TvT?

As the most eLiTE MuLtIaskiNG, hardworking Gaymers, it is the responsibility of honorable bio Terrans the world over to stop your friends from descending into pure mech idiocy. To aid you in your struggle, I’ve come up with a fool proof five step system to save your mech friends from moral degeneration:

L.O.S.E.R.

  1. L.—Listen to your mech friends.

  2. O.—Observe how slowly their cursor moves as they carefully siege their tanks behind a line of 20 turrets

  3. S.—Suggest alternative, more respectable playstyles: “you can always play Protoss if real Terran is too hard bro”

  4. E.—Empathize with their lack of skill, human decency, and inability to not waste everyone’s time

  5. R.—Remind them that Protoss exists and you don’t even have to siege anything or switch Thors to high tech impact mode if you’re a-moving carriers

We must all do our part to save our mech friends from themselves.
