Hi guys,

I’m curious to hear people’s opinions on how to start playing StarCraft

I come from the League community have played for many many years now, and Starcraft gets talked about a lot in the professional LoL scene insofar as some of the most influential/historical LoL players came from SCII so I’ve always been aware of it.

But more specifically, I’m a big fan of LS who is constantly talking about Starcraft and the way that different StarCraft strategies can be applied to LoL (he talks a lot about the Protoss v Terran matchup).

I want to dip my toes in the water of StarCraft but don’t know where to start. I don’t know anything about the game other than the fact that fellas have crazy high APM

Where should I start? Is SC2 the game everyone plays? Is there any material I should read/watch to familiarize myself?

Sorry for the ignorance here but wanted to earnestly ask

In RA2, after selecting a unit, you can press T to select all units of that type, is there a similar feature in SC2? Sometimes, ctrl clicking or double clicking moving units is a pain, especially if you want to include more than 1 type of units.

I've always dreamed of going to one of these live tournaments, and it looks like homestory cup 25 is happening in June?

The liquipedia page is empty, and all I can find about it is a twitter post from December and the ticket sales website. I guess this is just kind of a low-key event?

First off, StarCraft: Evolution Complete is an amazing mod and I’m loving that there’s so much love in both the SC1 and SC2 communities for it! I just finished watching the AfreecaTV vod of the SC1vsSC2 AGSL Supermatch and I can’t remember the last time I’ve been so happy to watch StarCraft!!

Of course, everyone knows there are a lot of imbalances in this current beta version of the mod, and most everyone can agree that none are more lopsided than Z1 vs Z2. What can Z1 even do against Z2 banelings and survive through the early game? In the show match, the Z1 player only made 2 sunks, which showed they can one shot banelings, but they can each get taken down by 4 banelings. Is then the best plan for the Z1 player to just wall the natural with buildings, with sunks behind them? Hydras would be too slow to come out, let alone lurkers, which could just get biled by ravagers. I can’t imagine any way for Z1 to get any advantage over Z2 Zerg.

What are your guys’ thoughts on this? I’d love to see if there’s any way that Z1 vs Z2 can be more balanced and have more variety in gameplay.

(Also dumb question can SC1 queens infest SC2 command centers?? XD)
