I've had this Headcanon that after the Terrans and Protoss get their happy endings and are cool with sharing their cultures. A terran delegation would offer the Protoss chess boards as a gift. Saying something about how Chess is the goto game played by terrans to test their intellect .

How would Protoss react? Would they love it or think it's silly and easy?

Isn't it silly that the mode you use 90% of the time is not default so you have to manually switch for every Thor made? And don't tell me it's for "balance". It's just clunky design.

Drophacker, hack to GM, check the 1v1s. APM insanely high with no other build, lag the game to make the opponent lose, example replay:

Example APM:

Isn't this the easiest to spot hacking? Cannot fathom why players do this, no skill at all.

Let me qualify this by saying I'm a 2 decade plus fan and have been watching pro games since before streaming was a thing. This is purely a professional discussion and I have nothing but respect for all the casters and appreciate all the hard work they do, but...

My god, the difference in casting watchability between the recent ASL finals and yesterdays GSL Ro.16 group is insane. State and Reynor are so invested, so involved and passionate about the games they get to see. What an amazing addition State has been, I'm such a big fan.

I'm someone who generally prefers to watch brood war, but for the first time ever I watched without sound because Arty/Tasteless just so obviously were not interested in the ZvZ finals, and not interested in providing any kind of real commentary lol. I don't mean that in a shitty or disrespectful way, but man that cast is one of the worst I've ever watched, and it was the FINALS lol.

I hope something changes for ASL. I went from thinking I was probably done watching sc2 after the casting changes, to being done watching ASL with commentary on.

What do you think? Am I too sensitive about this or does anyone else feel it too?

Zerg units are meant to be expendable, cheap and mass produced, but how well will they do against our military? Like fighter jets vs corruptors, tanks vs roaches, soldiers vs zerglings etc…

Hey Hivemind, I used to watch Dragon a lot before life got in the way, now with twitch not operating in Korea anymore I wonder if he went somewhere else or if somebody knows if he just quit streaming altogether.

Would appreciate any hint as to what has happened to him.

I’m just getting back into SC2 after like a decade and I’ve noticed nobody calls non-Koreans foreigners like they used to back when I watched it. Did that go away? I always thought it was a funny little quirk of the SC2 scene that I liked

I'm interested to hear what brings people to the game and draws them in to it, partially cause I'm having a bit of an existential crisis with Starcraft 2 and not sure if I want to continue playing. I'm curious then to hear what keeps people going.

For me, what I love and hate about the game seems to be quite similar. I love the endless variety of strategy and tactics that you can make use of. I find the game's constant back-and-forth really exciting and feels amazing when you can pull it off well. I also enjoy watching the competitive scene and taking inspiration from that, as well as just being in awe of some of the top players.

On the other hand though, I've recently just found Starcraft 2 exhausting and stressful. I mean the game is just really hard and the amount of management and logistics you have to do is crazy. Like even being in Silver you need to remember to keep droning, making units, expanding, spreading creep, scouting, responding to cheeses, and always keeping an eye out for tricks or harassment (also you have to try win the game at some point). Better scout the toss player in case he's about to rip you apart with DTs you're not ready for, and stay on your toes in case your terran opponent is about to send in a drop that's going to decimate your entire mineral line, or a fucking nydus worm is about to come up. And don't forget the possibility of a timing attack - often I find I've just got my macro game set up at 5 or 6 minutes when I have marines and tanks already in my base. I find I have a decent winrate on late macro games but yeah get turned to mush by harassment and early timing attacks that I can never seen to do anything about. There's just so much to focus on at once - the game gives me stress headaches trying to keep track of everything. I tried to watch some professional games to get me excited about the game again, but then I saw this Solar vs GuMiho that went up yesterday and honestly GuMiho's playstyle here is the stuff of my fucking nightmares. Obviously I'm in Silver and not a professional player, but watching this just made me feel like it's stressful brain-on-fire gameplay all the way up.

So yeah, I don't know maybe the game's just not for me. Either way I'm curious to hear what you guys feel draws you into it and keeps you here.

During Starcraft 1 mengsk and raynor refer to you as "commander" throughout the campaign.

Then, at the end when Mengsk betrays kerrigan, Raynor says "I'm leaving, and if you know what's good for ya you'll come with me" or something along those lines.

Did Matt Horner work for mengsk as the commanding officer and thats how he met raynor and later joined raynors rebels?

Makes sense to me, you always played the tactician and Raynor was the peoples hero. Would explain how much Matt knows about kerrigan and stuff, he was there for all of it. Kerrigan being taken, showing back up as the queen of blades on Char. Kerrigan letting Jim live even when she was freshly infested and had him completely surrounded.

[DikBoy] JoeBiden I Killerfrog#1251 GM Maphacking

This is one of the most obvious maphacking examples I have ever seen. To make it worse, the player constantly BM's and taunts his opponent while he blatantly cheats in order to win.

I have broken down all the evidence indicating maphacking in the replay, some are minor but others are completely obvious, especially the army interception and the blink on the unscouted drop.

  1. No probe scout/ scout of any kind.
  2. 2:22 – sends stalker to natural to catch reaper when it should be unsure of its moments and if it needs to intercept at main.
  3. 3.54 – attack move straight to the ramp that has 2 marines
  4. 4.15 – preps for perfect intercept on hellion going to main, despite no vision or awareness that it is coming.
  5. 4.38 – moves whole army to the main to catch a drop that he has no vision of (he still has not scouted the main or natural at all)
  6. 4.50 – selects all stalker and reacts/ blinks on the medivac that he has no vision.
  7. 5.30 – blind blinks on tank, after presplitting knowing that there is only 1 tank.
  8. 7.08 stops killing the rocks, despite them being one shot away from destroyed, to start heading back to his main to incept a drop which he again has no vison of.
  9. 7.45 moves second army perfectly in the position of the main army attack, despite again having no vision.
  10. 7.57 reacts to the army 1 second before he has vision of it.
  11. 8.16 Leaves army in main for drop, without knowing if it is still there, again no vision.
  12. 8.39 moves army from main to intercept the drop perfectly, as it starts to go, again without ever having vision of being present or leaving.
