Ok so one of the ads on that site opened up another tab which opened another tab which opened another tab which opened another tab...

Please use another site.

what browser even allows this?

Netscape Navigator

Very few. It wasnt doing it from within the browser.

It seems it spammed "open link in browser" from the in-app browser of my Lemmy app, which then kept opening my default browser app, and creating new tab after tab.

ads online are out of control these days-- you should probably look into better blocking and browser options. Try firefox for example

I do use Firefox. The tabs didn't even succefully load due to ad-blocking.

This seemed to work by hijacking the "open in another app" feature on android. The ad first opened in the in-app browser of my Lemmy app, and from there it spammed new tabs into existence in the Firefox app, which kept opening, and kept opening new tabs.

Jesus Christ, I won't be linking to them anymore.

I like using the site personally though, as I never get ads.

It's a webcomic, each "chapter" is only a page or two.
