Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Say what now? It’s not even Trump season, and I’m still reading stuff that is so absurd it should be a joke. During Covid times, it was common to read the weirdest things and think: “yeah, that might as well happen”. This time though, I really have to ask if that really did happen.

You do have to look at the merch tables with a grain of salt though, as many of them know Trump is in a dementia spiral and losing his marbles. They also know that his rally goers will buy just about anything and are more than happy to pretend for their $$$.

If that feel-bad-for-people part of me didn't work on overdrive I'd be out there with tables and sites full of merch pandering to these braindead (brainwashed?) morons

What’s wrong with picking any of the younger candidates? I imagine it’s a pretty demanding job, so being 30 years younger wouldn’t hurt.

Yep. That’s about the same level of amazing that I used to bump into on a daily basis. So, are we about to have another season of “you never imagined this would happen, but here we are”.

I thought the same thing. I guess we live in a society?

😂 OK, that may as well happen. What’s next? Evil magic zombies wouldn’t surprise me.

We already have trump supporters.

I always think that now I’ve seen it all, and nothing will surprise me any more… Until Trump supporters somehow pull off some bizarre magic and manage to surprise me anyway. I just looked up some of the twitter posts with relevant pictures. I don’t even know what to think of this stuff any more. Maybe I’ve just had too much internet for today.
