My Spotify wrapped has been disappointing me over the past few years. I used to have such an eclectic music taste, but getting older I'm listening to what's familiar to me a bit too much. I don't like the complacency.

Going to spend the next few weeks saving some new music to listen over the holidays, and listening to albums I've saved over the year but never bothered to listen. Currently listening to Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk, for fans of synth-pop and prog-rock this one is for you.

Spotify recommends stuff you already play so that's why I ask the DT for new stuff. The only new artist that I really really like is Dua Lipa.

Dua Lipa, Chappell Roan, Charlie XCX, and Olivia Rodrigo are really great! Can't recommend Chappell enough!!

My kid plays stuff like this in the car where I can't escape. She said the other day, talking about Azealia Banks "She has good songs but gee she's a crazy bitch".

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

Oh yeah Azealia is a wild lady on social media πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ but she does have some really great tracks too!

The good artists are always crazy

The first I've heard of Chapelle roan was this year's "good luck babe". I don't mind some charli stuff (1999 β™₯️) I do not like Olivia Rodrigo

Any Chappell songs you recommend?

Um like her whole album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.

I can't really pick an absolute favourite, the whole album is just an experience. A Femininomenon, so to speak πŸ˜‚ start at the start and enjoy!

Ahaha, mine is out of control.

Top songs were all songs in ~~English~~ (I stand corrected) mostly, English by non-English artists: Thai, Cambodian, Taiwanese and Korean.

My top artists were: Tanerélle, Limi, WIM, Sleep Token and Keshi. 🀣

I forgot I listened to so much TanerΓ©lle this year.

But I listen to such a wide variety, it’s not really a surprise.

You might like Can if you’re a fan of prog rock

IMO Wrapped doesn't really handle eclectic tastes really well. Makes the results seem super random.

Discover weekly and the radio channels (where you click the radio button based on a specific song and it plays more songs like it) are how I find a lot of new music

I put it on as background noise while I'm doing other things and if I start bobbing my head, I probably like a song

Mine was all KÀÀrijΓ€ and Chappell Roan πŸ˜‚ I think I will also have to expand my listening and see what pops up next year lol!

Now that's eclectic! I was expecting Chappell in my top 5, but no. I swear I thrashed her album this year.

My partner is seriously obsessed with her πŸ˜‚ and so am I!

Every song is a banger, and I fucking love that I can tell what her musical inspirations are in each song.

Good Luck Babe is such a vibe, but my fav is My Kink is Karma -chefs kiss-
