I don't think he really cared about getting caught all that much, just enough to do it and get away from the scene.
Why bother getting away from the scene at all then?
The longer he remains uncaught, the longer this stays in the news
Agreed, but he could have gotten away with it! His trail was cold, the police had nothing. He could have ditched all the evidence and just gone home, sigh.
Instead of one manifesto, have dozens or hundreds even. Start passing those out to make your motives clear and prevent the media from burying it.
