Personally, I think that the admins should no longer allow everybody to make new communities. The status quo is a PITA when it comes to keeping order on this instance (the severity of which only grows when the instance/LemmyNet grows).
I do not know what options there are (realistically) with Lemmy on the server end, but I supppose it is better to cook something up sooner rather than later.
I'm not sure if we're at that point yet - and I'm not sure if LemmyNSFW is growing still, since Reddit isn't going anywhere soon - but maybe at some point the idea of allowing communities to be created on public request only, stating what the goals are and checking if there aren't repeats, could be done.
