New accounts creating communities en masse (lemmynsfw.com)

I don't think there's a LemmyNSFW Meta to talk about possible issues in the instance, but lately I've noticed a few - possibly bot? - accounts spamming communities. They both have jumbled usernames and have created around a dozen communities each.

I don't necessarily understand what's the point, or what they could gain from this, but thought it'd be worth to at least point out to the mod coordination.

The accounts are @0D5C3D7BD3F7D503 and @0FAC249F80845370

Mildly unrelated but I've also noticed @Think316 has dozen of communities dedicated to different brazilian celebrities, but in this case I think they're just not very bright.

I brought up two of the newer random accounts on the Mod Coord chat on Element since some of their posts were hitting !hentai. This would make for at least four accounts so far that I can count:

@0FEAC1B46BE2EA09 - (Banned?) posted a few posts with nonsense titles and wonky obfuscated links
@0FE66A4B6C020906 - (Banned?) posted the same images (again, nonsense titles)
@0D5C3D7BD3F7D503 - (Banned?) created a ton of new communities
@0FAC249F80845370 - the latest?

Not sure if it's a bot or not, but their posts and behavior don't seem like they're very engaged in making or contributing to a healthy community.

It really seems like they're the community squatter type. Just looking at the one user of the two examples you gave that isn't banned already, all the communities are similar permutations of the same thing - Korea, Korean, Koreans, etc.. The other banned user was similar in the communities they made but it was for hentai.

Until they start up with whatever scam or commercial spam they intend to post (and they definitely will eventually) it will be difficult to tell actual motive.

Personally, I think that the admins should no longer allow everybody to make new communities. The status quo is a PITA when it comes to keeping order on this instance (the severity of which only grows when the instance/LemmyNet grows).

I do not know what options there are (realistically) with Lemmy on the server end, but I supppose it is better to cook something up sooner rather than later.

I'm not sure if we're at that point yet - and I'm not sure if LemmyNSFW is growing still, since Reddit isn't going anywhere soon - but maybe at some point the idea of allowing communities to be created on public request only, stating what the goals are and checking if there aren't repeats, could be done.
