My parents bought a real solid-hardwood computer desk once, for a computer even older than that one: the desk was designed for a pizzabox-style case and dot-matrix printer, complete with tray to hold fanfold paper. They were real pissed off when they found out that computers get obsolete and need to be replaced on a regular basis, and that their form-factors change over time.
