After working so long in I.T, the word "just" activates the bullshit filter. It's a clear sign someone is hand-waving some concept they have no clue about and is about to sign up some poor schlubs for a task they haven't properly accounted for.
People talk about surly teamsters but as a union I.T guy I know where that comes from!
That's exactly why I included it - because I know it's infuriating! :)
"just" is very condescending, as if they know better, while at the same time being totally dismissive of the actual scope and complexity.
Even as a dev myself, I sometimes catch myself saying it, and I have to rewind like "sorry, what I actually meant there is..."
I've been with teamsters before. My experience was like... Idk, it's like if tankies ran a union. We know what you need, you don't know what you need, shut up, pay your dues, fall in line, etc. but by God they got results. I've seen other unions that wandered in and continuously tried to make nice with the company and tried to explain the company line to us and tried to be reasonable and all that; it always took like a year of arduous negotiation to get pretty middling results. Teamsters don't play that shit. If you don't mind not being listened to in exchange for getting real pay raises, they're the way to go.
