General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both [email protected] and [email protected] .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

[email protected] appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

Working people won’t get a sniff for a decade at least

yeah, which party is going to come to power to give people a sniff of the good life? Labour? Oh whoops, they're already in charge.

JFC, it says something about the state of this fucking country and its history when the party that evolved out of the one that told the Irish "the free market will fix the famine" is the one you need to bank on to get a fair deal for working class people.

And I voted for them several times.

EDIT : This is why I left britain.

This is such an asinine comment 🤣. The Irish famine was almost 200 years ago. It says nothing about anything that is happening right now. It's like saying the Boer War plays a major part in what happens in this country.

And you know to be fair the free market did sort of bring prosperity to Ireland, albeit some centuries later. They joined the EU, liberalised their attitudes towards women and work, and instituted a global tax avoidance scheme for US companies never before seen.
