In 2000 years humanity is guaranteed to have regressed to pre-Industrial levels due to complete societal and environmental collapse.

Once this ongoing collapse (actively happening today) finishes, humanity will never again develop any technology. All natural resources remaining would be too deep in the Earth to reach without needing modern equipment. The coal mines and ore veins humans used to get into the industrial age no longer exist.

History is not a linear progression of ages and technology is not a Civ tech tree.

Just because our descendents won't be able to reproduce the exact circumstances of our industrial revolution doesn't mean they won't find new forms of forward progress.
