Seconded, good filament stored with lots of Silica packets goes a long way towards ease of printing....
...as does playing around with settings until you understand them.
A filament dryer was honestly the single biggest improvement to my printer's quality. I'd definitely recommend getting one. Wet filament is so frustrating to print.
Yeah I raw dogged ABS-GF and the quality was horrible compared to my next week's prints with a dryer.
I've not had too many issues using old / straight from the bag PETG but it was night and day with ABS.
