You don't have to use their proprietary client to use their proprietary service. You can use a 3rd party client.
On my phone I use Solid Explorer as my file manager which also has cloud integration
Even vanilla Gnome has a Google Drive client baked in lol
As you said, I use Mixplorer to access every cloud account I have. Really handy
