Relaxed section for discussion and debate that doesn't fit anywhere else. Whether it's advice, how your week is going, a link that's at the back of your mind, or something like that, it can likely go here.

the big stickied thread is getting cluttered with lots of new people and the "how was your week" thread isn't a great fit for introductions, so it seems about time to make this a dedicated thread of its own so peoples' posts aren't getting lost.

tell us a little bit about yourself, folks. don't gotta be too specific or revealing, just whatever you want to put out there. this'll be a good way of getting to know all the people you're now on here with

I am also a redditor who came here yesterday. I am a snake and reptile loving lady (she/her) with ADHD who gets really obsessed with new and novel things, so of course I signed up for several different fediverse sites yesterday and am getting the hang of them.

For this site, I'm mainly looking for a kinder, smaller Reddit. I grew up on the internet in the early to mid 2000s and I really miss the smaller, tight-knit forum communities that were the norm back then. A small niche subreddit scratched that itch somewhat, but I still never really learned who the individual people in my frequented subreddits were, you know? It felt like less of a community.

My main hobbies are games (MMOs, simulators, cozy games, etc), crafts (cross stitch right now, but also crochet and knitting), and reading.

Exactly what I'm looking for these days! All the communities I find online are so combatative and exhausting - everyone seems trying to one up each other and getting aggressive at the slightest disagreement as if being performative for an audience.

Nice to meet ya. Do you have any reptilian pets? Pls share pics if you do!

I do! Here’s a pic of my leopard gecko, Gorrik! Here

Awww that's a cute gecko-boi Does he let you cuddle him? I've heard a few geckos are cuddly

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I don't know if cuddly is the right word - it's more like they don't mind being handled, and they like to explore. He's still a bit hand shy, but we're working on it!

Nice, all the best to you both with it

I see that you have a profile picture, are you willing to share how to set one?

In the jebora app you can go to settings -> profile and set display name, bio and profile pic. Hope that helps :)

Yay! A fellow knitter! I saw some knitting posts on the DIY community; socks, sweater, yarn.

I haven't knitted in ages but I'm a keen crafter and do a lot of sewing, some embroidery/cross stitch, pottery, woodworking, and general artsy stuff. I have a heap of wool I need to spin so I can get back into wool crafts but I promised myself I would finish my crockery set first 🙃

What games have you been playing lately?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Wow, you do all the crafts! Lol

I’ve been replaying The Talos Principle lately. I also recently dug out my Switch again and am playing Spiritfarer and Cozy Grove on there.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Haha yeah I really really love making things.

I really need to save for a switch. I've been replaying all the old humongous pc games for nostalgia but it would nice to have a console again

Cool beans! I'm in the ADHD club too, and recently got into crochet, but I've done embroidery, knitting, and general sewing too. Fiber crafts rock.

They’re like, the perfect craft for keeping your hands occupied while listening to podcasts.
