I haven't seen this particular issue since early versions of Connect.

Yep. Apparently they changed the functionality. I can understand why, though. In deep threads, I sometimes wonder why clicking on the comment doesn't take me to my comment, i.e it takes me to the original reply as you noted, and I have to scroll to my comment, and the comment after that. But yeah, would be nice to still have an option to see the upper part of the thread without having to load the entire post (same problem).
