If RIC got to come back to RBR (seems more likely race by race) I hope he puts up a good fight with Max and not relegated to Driver 2.
The only way he gets the seat would be if he confirms his role as second driver. No way that RB is going to allow two fighting drivers, especially not with the show Checo is putting up currently, after explicitly challenging Max. All was well for Checo when he was โjustโ the second driver. Which is the job he was hired to do.
We need to see how Ric performs at AT. If Tsunoda outscores him over the remaining races then it will be difficult to justify why they'd promote Ric over Tsu.
