drastic realignment of the Democrat party

Once again, just want to make clear that I'm an outsider looking at news articles and memes, so forgive me if I'm speaking out of turn here. But based on what I've seen so far, this seems unlikely to me. All I've seen from the Democrats at this point is how they're getting annoyed with progressives for pushing them to actually do their jobs. And all indications look like they're more interested in attracting 'reasonable' right wingers and fence sitting centrists that weigh up the pros and cons of human rights vs egg prices, than actually trying to attract left wing voters.

The current Democrat party is like that, yes. However, if this proves ineffective, you'll see more Democrat candidates with an experimental message. Historically, this is how it has played out. We are currently in the 6th party system. Which means that the parties have had drastic realignment 5 times already. I think we're entering the 7th party system.
