But someone made the point that it might be the 5% which are producing 90% of the content leaving. Don't know if this is true, but there are a lot of 10+ year long redditors being vocal about the API issue.
That could be true, let's hope for it and that it also means Lemmy takes off in the wake of it...
That seems likely. There is research that in online communities there is a 1/10 ratio of people who post anything to lurkers, and a 1/10 ratio of posters to "power users"
Those 1% power users on Reddit are definitely not using the official app.
