President Trump is expected to sign a long-expected executive action Thursday calling on U.S. Education Secretary Linda McMahon "to take all necessary steps to facilitate the closure [of] the Department of Education and return education authority to the States," according to a fact sheet provided by the White House. Trump plans to sign the order at a ceremony alongside the Republican governors of Texas, Indiana, Florida and Ohio.

It’s really odd as an outsider. The American senate, congress, and courts are largely abdicating their power. Why would they do that? Power is everything to these people.

It’s also disappointing that the Democrats did sweet fuck all in their term to deal with the abuses that Trump did in his first term.

That part is so frustrating. The other branches are the "checks and balances" we've always been taught to trust in, but the Republicans have become a cult that's infiltrated all of the branches, nullifying those checks and balances. It's horrifying.

As an outsider from a country with a system entirely infiltrated by corrupt politicians and their interests, what seems even more concerning to me is the GOP's push to replace all the people in the federal government with Trump loyalists. This looks like an active coup on your democracy.

It is absolutely an active coup on our democracy, and basically the whole party is complicit.
