Newb here. In my main feed, I see some posts over and over again. I see a post, click "Next" and there it is again. And again on the next page, and a couple of others I've already seen too. And again on the next page. (Sometimes they are cross-posts to a different /c, but mostly not.)

It's annoying having to wade through post after post I've already seen.

What I've tried so far:

  • Set main feed to "New" rather than "Active" etc.
  • "Hide this post" when I see it for the third or fourth time

Are there other ways?

are you following too few subs? since the user base is smaller than that big corps lemmy simply has less daily content and this is especially noticed if you're only following a few subs

I'm following about 70 communities.

On Pixelfed, I follow only two accounts so far, but I never see repeats.

70 is plenty. you should see new stuff a lot. i don't see too much but i blame it on the fact that i don't follow too many. i guess there's something else here

I'll keep experimenting and subscribing to more communities and see if it improves over time.

I subscribe to a lot too and I see a ton of the same content…. Idk where this plentiful good content is that people always go on about. I’m thinking it’s only political subs

The solution is to go to subscribe to Reddit RSS feeds so that we find stuff to repost here.

(Only half-joking)
