So after saying this work laptop sucks, I could buy it off work for $100 because the SSD is starting to fail. Switch it out for a new one and it would be right as rain again. It might be heavy and power hungry, but a deal's a deal

I think I'm going to do it. I've looked at the specs and similar laptops, plus what they must have gone for on the refurb market a couple of years ago. I could probably flip it on Marketplace and make a buck even after replacing the SSD

I've grabbed stuff like that in the past and ended up using it as a seedbox or Plex server.

Never hurts to have a spare sometimes.

It will be good to have a self contained unit I can fuck around with. I have a PC in a server cabinet hooked up to a TV, but it's not the most convenient thing to jump on and use. At least a laptop has everything you need to use a computer right there, so I could have something to finally learn Docker on properly
