Raygun Gothic

Raygun Gothic refers to any creative work from 1900 through about 1959, predicting the future before it became possible. Think rockets and rayguns, flying cars and futuristic cities - especially if the vision never quite panned out in reality. We find this aesthetic in product design, book covers, films, radio & TV. "A tomorrow that never was". The same style as in the Fallout games, The Jetsons and so on but focused on the time period through the 50s.

FYI, a lot of those old comics are now public domain and you can find them at https://digitalcomicmuseum.com/

Looks like that particular one isn't on the site, but there's other ones that are very Raygun Gothic. The Scarlet Avenger from Zip Comics leans into the genre a lot though, and gets posted sometimes over at [email protected]:

Joe Biden's nemesis! :D

Thanks for the info and links. I'll check out DCM, and I've now subscribed to c/[email protected] . I already subscribe to a similarly named feed through Pixelfed (but I think it's from Mastodon. I'm still new to the fediverse and not always sure about how it all works).

Yeah, PixelFed and Mastodon work nicely together, they're both basically the same, just with a different UI focus. They can follow Lemmy posts easily, but Lemmy can't follow them easily because Lemmy is built around following communities instead of people.
