Everyone sees that stupid a-word as Person Who Can't Age Past Three and raises everyone with that horrible label like they couldn't age past three. And then they don't age past three until much later in life if they're given the chance.

I mean, that's verifiably and objectively wrong, since I don't believe that. But you seem to believe that there are a portion of the people that deserve the treatment of that. You think they are not like you, and that you shouldn't share that designation. You're the only one beating yourself up about it.

Regardless, autism is a spectrum. Deal with it.

Nobody deserves that. I don't think some people deserve it. I think no people deserve it. Everyone deserves the most fulfilling life possible.

I don't want that label because I don't even have that shit. I'm not Chinese so why should I call myself Chinese? I'm not a man so why should I call myself a man? I don't have cancer so why should I call myself a cancer patient? It has nothing to do with being above anyone else.

Everyone deserves a diagnosis that actually means something.

Then don't use the label? The point of a diagnostic tool is to help the diagnosed adjust. If you don't want to use the label, the who is stopping you from not using it? I don't get the issue.

A label that varies that much only causes people to never get the assistance they actually need. That's the issue. So many children are never given the chance to thrive and have fulfilling adult lives.

Also it's a dangerously believable scapegoat. So many people will assume a child smears feces and pees themselves because they're On A Spectrum and not because they're being raped at home. And then the child never gets help for the trauma, and the rapists get away. I may or may not be speaking from experience.

... I'll be real with you, dude... I think you should talk to a therapist. Just let them know about everything you've said here, and they'll be a much better help than I will.

At this point as much as I bitch about it I don't even care about what happened to me.

I just don't want it to happen to anyone else. And getting rid of a disorder label that only serves as a scapegoat and an excuse to give up on a child is the first step to saving anyone else from experiencing what I experienced and saw.
