Enough Musk Spam

For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

How does buying a used vehicle from a third party seller support the manufacturer? I have a Ford Mach E that I got from a Toyota dealer's used lot, and Ford never saw a dime of that transaction.

Last I checked Tesla made some features, like FSD, non-transferrable. Unless that’s changed, a new owner has to pay Tesla to reactivate any services like that.

FSD stays with the car unless you sell to Tesla. They do run promos of FSD transfer if you trade in and buy new car.

Don't worry, FSD will veer them into oncoming traffic eventually.

You could also go to the website and buy a Tesla branded shirt if you wanted, but you don't HAVE to.

Not directly, no- but resale value comes into play with pricing. People will be a lot less willing to buy a new vehicle if they will take a massive loss selling it later.

That was a minor consideration when I bought my Prius. Minor, but it did come up as a factor.

Joke's on me, this car is almost old enough to drive itself and still doing strong. I didn't foresee selling it ever 💜

Nice. How the battery health doing?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 days ago

It seems fine. I feel like I've replaced the hybrid battery once, but I wouldn't swear to it. I've replaced the starter battery a couple times.

That is NOT the primary driving force behind Tesla's marketing issues right now...
