Charlie Brown leans over looking at the smiling, sitting Schroeder as Patty watches from nearby. He asks,"Doesn't Schroeder ever talk?"

She replies,"He hasn't learned how yet..he's too young" He stoops in front of him and asks,"Can he walk?"

She walks up to them and Schroeder turns towards her. She replies,"No, he doesn't walk yet either..."

Charlie Brown concludes,"Gee, this gives me a great feeling of superiority!"

And as he got older, he remained mostly non-talking and non-walking, spending most of his time playing his toy piano.
