Otherwise just the general no bigotry, no dickishness, no spam, no malice, etc stuff.

Unironically yes
Every time I try that I'm so full of loneliness and resentment I consider falling off the wagon to make it easier to off myself so no thanks. Maybe one day enough therapy will get me there
I think there is no one solution for everyone so coping your way until you find better ways to handle life is absolutely fine.
Do get therapy and perhaps even medication. Doom scrolling might dull the feeling momentarily but it is making it worse long term, feeding those negative thoughts.
Best of luck on your mental health journey 🤛
Thank you, I'm trying. Couple weeks away from no alcohol for 3 years and it's still a struggle sometimes 🤜
I find that podcasts are a nice middle ground. It's like social media light.
Yeah, I've had times in my life where distracting myself from my thoughts was helpful for my mental health.
At some point, my thoughts stopped being intrusive and now I do find it more helpful to actually think them, because it distracts from the negativity of social media, but it's also necessary for finding motivation to do things (can't get motivated, if you don't even think of those things).
Might be worth trying to find a middleground. Maybe you can try to take pauses from distracting yourself and then very actively think of tasks to be doing. But yeah, if you can get professional help with that, that's a lot better than from some random person on the internet...
