Pushing over Russian red lines is what got Ukraine special military operation. It can result in strikes on NATO eventually too. US political leadership attempting to resolve situation may protect them more than its colonies still in rabid Russophobia/CIA deep state mode.

What involvement did the US have in that specific “Spider Web” operation?

Intelligence cooperation at least. Unclear if NATO members/aspirants allowed truck transit.

Treaty obligation to store them in the open for satellite counting purposes. Obligation to not assist destroying them, comes with that.
