A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Q Anon was a social psychological operation used to create the human trafficking operation America is pulling off right now. They got people to think they were fighting against trafficking but in reality they were being used as a tool in creating americas current trafficking system.

Manipulated to funnel support and votes. Played out misunderstanding the psychological battlefield we are all in.

It was all part of the coup. The same social tactics America uses to manipulate other countries they used on their own people.

Maybe the enemy here is bigger than left and right politics.

It would be nice if it were above politics. But what you're attributing to nefarious deeds... is literally what politics is. Power players trying to leverage anything they can to accumulate as much influence as possible. Sometimes these come in the form of scheming plans, but more often than not it's just manipulating any convenient happenstance that falls at their feet.

Have you seen the documentary Century of Self. It's about the government and marketing starting to use psychology and how it manipulates society.

It makes me think about data mining, gps, and surveillance. Even credit card usage can give you ads on your phone. Devices listen. The possibility for manipulating society and basically becoming it's master is there and is actually the game being played. Now look at it this way... When theres someone living off rhythm to society they can be targeted and manipulated pretty much from all avenues. This is what's behind the gangstalking "conspiracy"... But to discredit the reality of that the stalking is real the "conspiracy" is littered with talk about aliens and directed energy weapons. So when people start realizing they are "gangstalked", if they don't have a strong enough head on their shoulders they believe it because while all the other attributes have happened to them and they know those events were real, they see all this purposely spread false info of aliens and bullshit specifically marketed to make them look crazy. For some people it works on them because they don't understand the psychology behind social manipulation. And people can be smart with American dream success and still be victims.
