Pretty cool - though it does seem like a bit of a risky proposition, considering that Iβm sure Russia considers those things high-value targets, and also has AAMs designed specifically for taking out targets like that at standoff ranges
I think we're seeing that Russia's air defence capabilities are seriously degraded. We're seeing Ukraine F-16s hit targets inside Russian controlled areas.
Oh I know, but itβs still a dicey proposition to have a decidedly large and un-stealthy heavy airlift asset floating around an active war zone without some pressing reason. Again, the R-37M is specifically designed to hit stuff like AWACS and aerial tankers and cargo planes and other things like that

Agreed, but it certainly has great propaganda value doesn't it!
