I haven't seen this response in this thread so I suppose I'll pass it along:

Apparently, back in ye olde days, a subreddit owner could make anyone mod without their permission, and there's no evidence that u/spez actually did any moderation.

Plenty of reasons not to like u/spez, and apparently he did advocate against shutting jailbait down, but him being a mod is not super legit.
