This can't be coincidental. And I don't buy a DDOS attack either. For one... why? I don't see the motive. And two: Reddit is one of the largest, heaviest trafficked websites, their infrastructure and CDN eats DDOS's for breakfast.
Insider employee sympathy strike? Someone unplugged the server controller server? maybe.
I think... I think they've deliberately taken it down because they don't want people to see how godawful empty Reddit is without all the striking subs. Last I checked at 11:30 last night, all it was were pretty shitty subs (like plumbing and home improvement) or smaller ones where the mods probably hadn't gotten around to it yet or aren't "with it" enough.
